BULLPEN TOPIC? skinpinch other guys...

i am a mets fan we all know that!!

but what do you guys think. the way the mets bullpen is set.. is this something you will se more of in years to come?

we swept the dodgers.. 2 of the 3 games we pulled our starter before the 6th inning. this team is confident with a close game or the lead after 5 innings they can win by using the pen.

in the playoffs power pitching usually wins. but a team like the mets this year might show they can hang around with poor starting pitching, bc they can get 5 from there starter and then maybe frustrate the other team by throwing 10 more guys at you in the next 4-5 innings.

who knows for sure mets could get killed by guys that can go 8 innings. but if mets face a pitcher that is dominant 8-9 innings... WILLIE keeps making changes every inning slowing the game down... makes the pitcher for the other team get cold and frustrated. im rambling here but i think some of you guys no where im getting with this..

I LIKE THE METS CHANCES OF WINING IT ALL THIS YEAR!

The Mets bullpen has been their strong point all season and Willie knows enough about the game to dance with the guys that brung ya. Of course, an 8-inning outing would be great, but the way the Mets bullpen has been so effective all year, I'm not quibbling with Willie and the quick hook. It's worked to perfection so far!

Edit: I don't think, however, that this kind of strategy would work as well throughout the regular season. The playoffs are a different animal, the intensity is magnified, and there are travel days and more rest days for an overextended or overworked bullpen to recuperate. Case in point: Game 1 of the NLCS won't be till Wednesday I think, so there's PLENTY of time for the Met relievers to rest up.
