I do have to say this... wtf was Torre thinking? we all no arod was struggling..but bat him 8th??? when you lose and your out.
how much confidence does that put in your 250 million dollar player..
its like slapping him in the face on the most important game of the year. this to me is by far the most idiotic decision by the yankees in there history.
If i was arod i would waive the no trade clause!

i agree! by batting him 8th he not only showed he had no confidence in him but by doing so it appears he put the entire team into a funk.

<< <i>I watched a number of Yankees games on TV this season. I'll just say this as far as the idea that Arod is a choke artist - it isn't a myth. He chokes in meaningful, tight situations - I've seen it time after time after time. Perhaps out of the spotlight of New York he would be better. >>
I agree. I just don't think he's the type of player who thrives with the microscope on him, with media vultures looking to pounce on him for everything he does wrong. He's fine with the spotlight as long as the spotlight isn't being critical.

Arod argued briefly, was Torre just too tired or bored or not watching the game, to come out of the comfortable dugout and maybe spark the Yanks into some emotion ???
<< <i>In game 3, on a very close tag play at 3rd base, Arod got no support from Torre. The TV replay seemed to show Arod got the man.

Or perhaps he's so petty that he'd rather have the backing of the 'fans' than protect his players. You can sure as hell bet that Pinella would be out there arguing the call, as he wouldn't let a trivial thing like the PRESS dictate his style. mediocre torre would rather have the support of the press than work for his paycheck.
