Al MVP

I can't wait till it's announced. If it's a Yankee . . . pretty embarrassing - because no one came forward when it counted.

Jeter came forward when Matsui, Sheffield, and Cano were out; with Errod playign like it was October(which if you haven't noticed; is not a good thing).

Take away jeter's meaningless 5-5 night (when the yanks won easily) and he was able to garner just 2 hits in the other 3 games...a real burner!

  • Arod is batting a cool .100 the last three postseason series combined. He put up in the pennant race, instead of blaming his bum play on an injury(ala Errod); only to pad his numbers when the pressure was off and the pennant was all but won.

You mean Jeter didn't pad his postseason numbers in game one with the game in hand, and had a grand total of 2 hits in three key games? Clutch? Hah! I think not!!!
  • Erod hasn't produced in the playoffs since the 2004 ALDS. He doesn't have the heart and can't take the pressure.

He doesn't have 'heart' and can't take the 'pressure'? You mean the pressure of 'fans' who want him to fail, as their jealousy of his talents and money is such that they want him to fail to feel better about themselves?

If you went to work every day and there were people there cheering you to fail, booing you at every opportunity, how do you think you'd do? I'd suspect it'd be like any other human - you'd fail, miserably.

There is little doubt in my mind that Jeter will be announced as the AL MVP. To blame him in any way for the Yankees collapse would be completely wrong... he was by far the best player on their team for this series.
  • I think it would be better if the vote for MVP was after the post-season - when we can see who really contributes under pressure!

So why didn't NY'ers boo Bernie Williams or Derek Jeter? Oh thats right, they produced when it mattered most. Us Yankee fans would LOVE if Arod would produce like he can in the moments our team needs him the most. But, we've become accustomed to the first pitch swinging, and last strike looking Erod of today. Why not boo a player who doesn't contribute as much as he could? Who doesn't step up when most needed? He's a professional athlete, he should be use to the pressure of the spotlight, in fact I think he is but he still can't handle it.

Morneau should be the MVP. It will be a shame if he gets shafted to give it to Jeter.

  • I honestly don't think Morneau will get it. Johan Santana is unargueably the Cy Young winner(MLB best in ERA, Strikeouts, and wins), Torre Hunter had a career offensive year(even with the broken foot he suffered midseason) as well as Joe Mauer winning the batting title will "lessen" Morneau's contributions because of overshadowing. I don't know of a team to have 3 different players ever in the same season win the Cy Young, Batting Title, and the MVP.

  • Morneau should be MVP, but since the networks made their push, we all know who is going to get it! Hell, why is Kenny Rogers not on the list for MVP, or even Cy Young? He pitched wonderfully this year, so much for his 2nd half collapse, and he also was instrumental in helping out the young pitching staff!

The Twins didnt fair any better than the Yanks did as far as the playoffs go, that being said I personally would have no problem with Jeter getting the award.

Rogers will never get consideration because of the anger management/cameraman incident. It's a shame because he was critical to the Tigers this year.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12
