To get the lower rates, you need to submit a quantity of coins (10 at PCGS and 5 at NGC, though my form says PCGS will take 5 as a minimum -- changed?) and each has to have a declared value of less than $300. The PCGS rate is $18 and NGC $16 at NGC. Both call it their Economy service. You also have return shipping. You can figure on the order of two bucks per coin there, for around 10 coins. You also need to ship it registered to them unless you drop them off at a show. For coins above $300 and under $3,000, you use the Regular service (NGC calls it Early Bird): each is $30 a coin, with no minimum. Further, if you want a VAM number on the tag for the Top100 or Hot-50, it's another $15 at PCGS or $10 at NGC. IMHO, it makes little sense to submit coins that are worth significantly less than $300 for certification, except perhaps one just to satisfy a minimum on an Economy order.
