Dear God, another "trimmed" Willie Greene 1993 Refractor

Oh, the drama, where is DBH on this one?

Obviously another factory short card. Hopefully this seller won't get crucified too. Note, there is no mention of the height discrepancy in the 2 cards pictured.

Oh, DBH, what are you to do?????

    1) He says it's in 'near mint condition or better', which is a world of difference from your 'perfect in every way' BS.
    2) He puts up a scan of another card next to it so you can see the size difference. Wonder why you didn't do that?

In any case, if this auction is sleazy then YOURS was a freaking felony.

There is nothing wrong with factory short cards, they just have to be described properly. This seller is providing a picture comparison here.

  • What does it mean when a card is "trimmed?"

a card is trimmed to artificially enhance the corners/edges to give the card a "mint" condition appereance as though it was still in factory made condition.

Check out the bottom of the scan, cleary it was cutoff; so there is no way to "backup" JMBKs story of willie greene shortcuts at the factory.
    Collecting;
    Mark Mulder rookies
    Chipper Jones rookies
    Orlando Cabrera rookies
    Lawrence Taylor
    Sam Huff
    Lavar Arrington
    NY Giants
    NY Yankees
    NJ Nets
    NJ Devils
1950s-1960s Topps NY Giants Team cards

Looking for Topps rookies as well.

Actually, to refute the "intellectual giants" on these boards:

    1. Assigning a card a GRADE guarantees that PSA will grade it. This auction did just that.
    2. I thought it was just because he was lazy.

In any case, I've never seen my "trimmed" 1993 Refractor from fight-FRAUD. Hmmmmmmm, wonder why not. Another Willie Greene was recently graded an unqualified PSA 9 according to the population reports, and it wasn't mine...

I get it now. Since you didnt assign an actual grade, you guaranteed PSA wouldnt grade the card.................

This is a classic. So assigning a card a grade 'guarantees PSA will grade it', but saying that a card is 'perfect in every way' doesn't.

You can't make this up. Look-- you ran a bush league auction, and unfortunately for you the wrong guy ended up being the high bidder. End of story.

I find it humorous that I answer all of the board members "questions" and no one has the courage to answer my claims, my pictures, and my questions.

The way that so many board members have been so pitifully wishy-washy on the issue of the Willie Greene likens the board to a group of high school cheerleaders.......

What 'claim'? I'll say it now-- that Willie Greene you just posted a picture of in the other thread doesn't appear to be 1/10" short of 3 1/2". If you can prove me wrong, fine. And while we're on the 'avoiding questions' tangent you still haven't provided a reasonable response to the question relating to why you didn't submit that card yourself if it was 'perfect in every way'-- and no, your 'I'm too poor to pay PSA's exhorbitant grading fees' does not strike me as reasonable.

I dont think that one board member has been "wishy washy"
Everyone saw that a person who collects the set and regularly had them graded tried to sell one on Ebay as "perfect in every way" when it was a misleading description of the card. To come on and say that another seller actually gives his card a grade when you did not assign a mint grade to your perfect card, just shows that you knew your card was no good or you would have described it as mint. You prove that by NOT giving your card a grade you knew it was WAY short.

Learn from it and move on.

Just because the T206 Wagner is trimmed doesnt give me the right to take out my exacto and start selling "perfect" T206's.............

And all of the board members find it humorous that you refuse to answer one simple question.

Why didn't you submit the Green in question to PSA?

I don't know if you followed the other thread, but the answer we got to this was because 'he's poor, and PSA grading fees are expensive'.

I think the OP is probably a pretty good guy, and FWIW I don't think he trimmed the card. My guess is it came back min size req. a few times, and he decided to put it up on ebay raw with a moderately misrepresenting description. The ethics at this point are a little murky, and you can make an argument either way I think, but when the buyer asks for a refund because the card is short you need to do the right thing and give it to him. I recognize that righteousness comes cheap on the Internet, but I'm pretty sure I'd walk this like I talk it.
