My First World Grades Just Posted

I don't know if their good or not. I sent them in so that they could be "saved" and stored easier. The Irish set has sentimental meaning and the Pandas.... I wasn't sure if they were real so I sent em in and figured I'd find out for sure.

If anyone knows what the one designation behind the '96 Panda is (Y-583) I'd appreciate your help.

  • They don't look too bad to me. Are they?

  • Y-583 is the Yeoman catalog number (identifier) for the coin. This particular coin is listed in the catalog as:

    China People's Republic

    Y #583 10 YUAN

31.1035 g., 0.9990 Silver 1.0000 oz. ASW Obv: Temple of Heaven
Rev: Seated panda mother and cub.
    1996 Prooflike Unc.:$25.00

The 1996 10 yuan Panda silver proof is Y #1096.

PCGS seems to be rather inconsistent in its inclusion of Yeoman numbers on China panda coins.

The Irish set was in its own acrylic case that was covered in scratches and what not. When I opened it, I was surprised to see how pretty the coins actually were. They have very pleasing designs and the condition overall was very nice. I received these from my grandparents in about '76, '77 but I don't remember how they came by them.

    The pandas are beautiful.

Thanks so much for letting me know. I'll see about tracking down a "yeomans catalog" as I have quite a few other foreign coins. Most I don't know anything about.
