Eagles Cowboys (no smack thread)

Trying to put myself in an unbiased spot to pick a winner for this game while considering both teams.

Here is my take and edges on Sundays game:

QB - considerable edge to the Eagles
WR - considerable edge to the Cowboys, with or without Reggie Brown. I think Stallworth sits.
RB - considerable edge to the Cowboys, goes to slight edge Eagles if Westbrook plays.
TE - even
OL - edge Eagles

DL - edge Eagles
LB - slight edge Cowboys
DB - edge to Cowboys

Coaching - slight edge to the Eagles. Jim Johnson is the reason for that.

Intangibles - toss up ... even with home field advantage for the Eagles

The line is hovering around 1.5 to 2, and if I were to bet on this game I would pick Dallas.

Smack threads are elsewhere on this board, so please post there or start a new one.

  • No way TE is even. LJ Smith or do you want Jason Witten and Anthony Fasano? I'd give the slight edge to the Cowboys. Do you want a coach who couldn't coach his team up to the title or a multiple super bowl winning coach? I'd give considerable edge to the Cowboys. I'd consider the DL even knowing with Kearse being out.

I went EVEN on the TE position due to the emergence of Smith and the addition of Schoebel.

Parcells is a great coach, but Belichek was also his coordinator.

I predicted the line for this game would be around Eagles minus 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 and it opened at Eagles minus 2. I haven't looked at the line lately. Perhaps those Buckhalter fumbles in the last game lowered the line as those fumbles frankly, are worrisome. The Green Bay game was a joke as the Eagles won that game sleepwalking looking past to this game - but we cannot afford fumbles like that to Dallas.

I think 1420 has it just about right except for his comment about picking Dallas if he were to bet on the game. But of course this game should boil down to what team makes the least mistakes. The 12th man is always important but with this game the fans are really going to have to be alive and screaming, which I have no doubt we will.

McNabb sometimes is prone to make early mistakes in games like these. I hope Reid for the first few series just calls a lot of runs and very short passes just to get McNabb acclimated.

I believe the Cowboys are going to need to get a decent early lead to have any chance to win. If the Eagles keep it close, and I believe we will, we will outscore Dallas in the 4th quarter to win the game. I'm calling it an Eagles win by between 2 to 8 points.

    As an Eagles fan....

Eagles O vs. Cowboys D, slight edge to Eagles if healthy, but they're not.

Cowboys O vs. Eagles D, edge to the Cowboys considering the Eagles injuries, bad TE/LB matchup, and poor play of M. Lewis

Eagles ST vs. Cowbows ST, edge eagles.

If westbrook and stallworth were healthy, Id take the birds, but I can't. Not even at home.

Man, how different this game looks here in week 5 than it did in week 1. The Eagles have been putting up big time points, something
that no one here thought they could do. McNad looks like he is back to his old self. The cowgirls have looked ok at best. I still think
they haven't recovered by the thumping that the jags gave them. They just thought a bunch of talent would win games. Bledsoe has
been awful, TO a ghost. Witten has been a no show. I like the pop on defense at times, but wide outs can run by these guys.

I think this is a must win for Dallas. You lose this and you might as well call yourself pretenders. Tuna has no answers

Toss up for me, however I took the Cowboys (ugh). Its a game thats going to show who is real and perhaps who isn't. Big game to set up the rest of the season (I know obvious statement).
  • Westbrook did not practice again today. Obviousily a big loss for Eagles if he cannot play.

Whats the deal with Stallworth ? Is he hurt as well ?

Big key for the Cowboys i believe is how well they can pick up the blitz. We all know Jimmy Johnson loves to blitz. As much as you guys like to blast Bledsoe, if you give him time he can still burn you. Cowboys do have the weapons to do that

As a Cowboy fan Mcnabb always scares me with his ability to avoid the rush and throw deep. Cowboys need to not only put pressure on him but when they get a hand on him take him down

I cannot wait for the game, should be a good one

Contrary to what JS said, McNabb is playing dynamite football. GB, SF, Houston, and NYG are not the best d's around, but neither are the d's the cowboys have faced ... including Jax. They kicked the crap out of Pitts O, but what have they really done? Then again, I have never been a firm believer in defense rankings, as it may be less than 50 yds per game allowed that separates the bulk of the pack.

urrrr, you misunderstood that. by old self I meant McNadd is winning again. He is throwing TD's and running with young legs
again. I can't believe that he was still availble in the 7th round in my fantasy draft!
