    indeed - high prices.

Who are you lseecon? Welcome to the boards.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • Check this one out as well.

    1970 Bobby Orr PSA 9
Looking for well centered 1958 topps baseball psa 8 and up. Also dying for a 70 Aaron All Star in PSA 9.
  • An incredible price, but I can understand the logic for bidders. These are very tough cards. If collectors want a complete set, they have the choice of trying to hunt down the cards card-by-card for many years to come, spending lots of time and energy looking for them. Or they can buy it in one swoop. If you got the money, it makes sense. Apparently, it made sense to two different bidders.
  • What a crazy large sum to pay $3230.00 for the 1970 Topps Orr in just Psa 9. I could see this price if it was a 10 but not a 9. There is a lot of ungraded 1970 Topps still out there! Wax, Vending, Mint cards in peoples closets... just the sheer volume of cards printed alone would prevent me from investing that kind of loot in a Psa 9. I would think the number of Psa 9's would increase in just a couple of years. So than what would this card be worth with 3-5 more in Psa 9 graded.
As to the Bell Brand and Goudey sets I would expect to see more interest in these sets in the future. So as a investment the number of these cards are limited. I would not be surprised if these cards are going to be shipped off to some card restoration service. Than sold to unsuspecting people in a raw condition looking 1-4 grades higher than which they were bought in this auction. Just my take. Paul

with the buyer's premium the PSA 9 1960 Bell Brand Sandy Koufax went for $33,000......SMR is about $1,200 I believe so it sold for 27 times the guide.........

Makes me wonder how much a 1970 PSA 9 OPC Orr would have gone for.

I forgot to look at the hammer for the Koufax. Incredible.

and as an owner of this I was kind of disappointed it didn't bring more.

    Links no good.
I got slaughtered on one of my consignments as well. Was hoping to use that to pay for the '41 Goudey set, but that one went thru the roof. Oh well.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

    Redheart,

There was a 70 OPC Orr #3 PSA 9 that was listed on ebay earlier this year which sold for a little over 1k. It was a 1 of 3 at the time.

The Topps Orr is a 1 of 9, which makes the final price all the more amazing. I actually had my eye on the card until the bidding got out of hand, and it got out of hand early on.

Pretty high speculation not knowing who bought the sets. If I was the new owner of these sets I would be quite upset with your statement. Sounds like you are calling the owners crooks. Do you have a reason to suspect someone?
