POLL: Biggest College Football Rivalry?

I chose ND/USC simply because of the fact that both teams have fans all over the country, as opposed to the East, for example...

I would say Army/Navy but since that was not a choice I went with Michigan/Ohio State.

ND/USC seems too new for me.

Alabama-Auburn I nominate for honorable mention. Probably a regional interest for the most part but
a good rivalry none the less.

I hear you, but, I bet you a lot of people can't remember who won that game from year to year. As far as a competitive, deep down rivalry, I'm sure Army-Navy is right up there...

In the old Big 8 days, it used to be Nebraska - Oklahoma. image
  • I choose UCLA USC, gotta be from the west coast though and have experienced it.

Miami vs Florida State is pretty huge when both teams are preseason picks for a National Championship, but with all the nationwide ND fans I will say ND vs USC as well.

Interesting poll but too tough to choose the "biggest" in my opinion - good selection though of some great rivalries

    is there any doubt?image
  • Although I like the new USC/ND; for it to become the biggest rivalry both teams will have to keep playing great ball for it to be a true impact rivalry. I enjoy a lot of the rivalries, especially the FLA bowls(MIA, FLA, and FLA St.) and Michigan/Ohio State. Army/Navy is the all time biggest rivalry though, no doubt. I have friends in both services and when that's going on; nothing else matters. It's a good time, if you ever have a chance seriously go to it.
    Collecting;
    Mark Mulder rookies
    Chipper Jones rookies
    Orlando Cabrera rookies
    Lawrence Taylor
    Sam Huff
    Lavar Arrington
    NY Giants
    NY Yankees
    NJ Nets
    NJ Devils
1950s-1960s Topps NY Giants Team cards

Looking for Topps rookies as well.

Were you people born yesterday?!? Notre Dame and USC have been playing each other for more than 75 years. The intensity of the rivalry has waxed and waned, but it's probably one of the oldest non-regional rivalries in college football. Heck, they probably played 20 games against each other before a male even enrolled at Florida State.

TX / OU has been going on since 1900 image
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I don't know what "biggest college football rivalry" means. Army vs Navy is probably the most historic. The biggest as far as number of fans watching is ND vs SC, last years game was the most watched regular season college football game in 9 years (prior to that the 1996 OSU vs ND game). ND and USC are also 1st and 2nd all time draft pix, 450 & 431 with OSU 3rd and Michigan 6th.

As a yute I started watching OSU-Mich, ND-SC and Army-Navy and get immense enjoyment out of all three. For a number of years the OSU-Michigan game was mind numbing as neither team could score, like 3 yards and a cloud of dust was a good thing. Anyway I would rank those three 1a 1b and 1c depending on how you want to look at it.

For awhile I enjoyed watching the Miamai vs FSU rivalry as it would give you insight into upcoming shows of "Americas Most Wanted." image

USC Coach Howard Jones basically lost his job at USC because he lost to ND 4 years in a row...

This really needs to be broken down further... prior to 1950, the ND-Army game would likely be the greatest or even Yale-Havard
