The bitterness on this board is unbelievable

Most of you guys are too bitter. You are upset if Jeter does well because he is paid well. He is an excellent player that seems to always play well. Just because Jeter does not play on your team or does not play for peanuts then you have to trash him. What is wrong with just watching the game and enjoying the moment? Jeter was in the zone tonight. I am no Yankee fan, but I enjoy watching Jeter hit. I can understand if you happen to be a Detroit fan that you would want him to play poorly and get upset when he plays well, but I don't think most of you are Tigers fans.

I agree, actually of the few that you mention only one is an idiot and has no idea about the game. the other guys are mostly red sox fans that can't see thru the blinders.

and no matter what jeter does it will never be good enough.

    JMO (regarding the sox fans).

    Good for you.

It's just not limited to this board about Jeter, though. I personally think he's fantastic, but a lot of people can't stand him for some reason.

Hey don't speak for all Red Sox fans. I never complain about Jeter and have nothing but respect for him and his accomplishments.

I HATE THE YANKEES. BUT I have a lot of respect for Jeter, IMO he is a true "Team Player" and is a class act. I would take him in a Sox uniform anyday. That being said I truly hope though that he and the rest of the Yanks go hitless the rest of the way against the Tigers.

Just in case you are a nomad from the open forum, I am wearing the Yanks icon only because I lost a bet, I have it until 10-21-06 @9:58am.....image

I respect Jeter and his abilities. He's a damn good player and you'd have to be a fool not to want him on his team. But because I hate the Yankees and he embodies all things Yankee, I hate him (in a sports context, not so much personally).

Plus I like the fact that he's a Yankee great that Steinbrenner didn't plunder in the free agent market from some "lesser market" team. In other words, unlike most other Yankee stars.

But as I said, the man OOZES Yankees to the core, and to me he's the ultimate *symbol* of Yankeeness, so he tends to get it from me. McCarver, on the other hand, seems to want to have his love child.

Most? exactly 1/3 of last nights starting lineup was plundered from some "lesser market" team (since Oakland, Boston, and Atlanta are lesser market teams, I guess)...

I think what he meant was that the majority of the players on the Yanks are acquired from another team (via signing or trade) in their peak years.
