So...how much truth is there to the stories in SI? Torre making a GREAT ballsy move here.
How much more convinced do you need to be that ARod has inflated numbers and that he hasn't hit in the big situations this year?
I loved Steinbrenners response when asked about ARod hitting 6th..."Alex will hit where ever Joe Torre tells him to." (Not the exact quote but you get the message!)

Like they mentioned in the pre-game, this could work one of two ways. First, Arod uses it as motivation and hits the cover off the ball. Second option, his shaky ego cant deal with it and he flops.
Either way its a move Torre has every right to make, and a smart one. Its the playoffs, the big stage, and until you prove you can perform there is no alternative but to suck it up, do what the manager says and get the job done.

He's batting .305 for his career in the postseason, essentially the same (.307) as your precious beloved spanktoy, Derek Jeter.
Grow up already.
No one has argued what AHole..I mean ARod has done in the past. It's a new year, it's a new playoff series, and AHole, I mean ARod has had a difficult time putting wood on the ball in important situations.
So now Axhole thinks he could manage the Yankees better than Torre!
I'll be amazed if the rod hits .220 in this series..

Arod has yet to lead a team to a championship though. Last season, he won the regular season MVP and proceeded to flop in the playoffs. Yes, he has had some great series and some flops. BUT, he hasn't had the greatest season(most likely his worst in the majors); why put him up higher in the lineup with all those weapons? Hell, Cano batted .340+ for the season and is batting ninth. No one in that lineup has a reason to complain, b/c there is no real dropoff in that lineup.

What dopey fails to mention though is that jeter has the 307 average in almost 500 at bats while Arod has his 305 in UNDER 125.
Big difference, but typical half truth from our resident creep.

That's significantly better than the .133 he hit last year

Didn't you see Arod's KEY single??? Who knows how this game might have wound up without that clutch hit!

but...all things considered...has Er-rod really earned a spot in front of Matsui, Posada or Cano?

but...all things considered...has Er-rod really earned a spot in front of Matsui, Posada or Cano? >>
Yes, an MVP performance will do that, as well has being the youngest ever to 450 HRs, and being the best all around player in the AL.
topps, yankeeno, we are all still waiting for whatever it is you think us non-yankee fans 'just don't get'.
Enlighten us!
You guys never cease to make me laugh.
I am still waiting for the spankboys topps and yankeeno to tell me what we 'don't get'.
That is not what you did. you lamely attempted to compare him to Jeter's numbers.
What you did say:
He's batting .305 for his career in the postseason, essentially the same (.307) as your precious beloved spanktoy, Derek Jeter.
Steve
Why am I going to try and explain ANYTHING to you? Gimme a break. You are waaaay too much of a DOPE.

Then shut your mouth, ok sparky?
As far as comparing Arod to jeter, batting averages are just that - AVERAGES. It doesn't matter than jeter's had more at bats, its based on AVERAGES you clowns.
<eyeroll> ohhhh ok dopey.

Exactly. You can talk about the "averages" when they have "comparable" post season at bats.
