Can u imagine I buy a '79 fun bag and receivie a whole case of them? WOW!

I've been expecting a 27-pack 1979 Topps Fun Bag from Kruk Cards this week. I hear "knock, knock, knock" on the door, of course its the UPS man, I recognize his knock!

I expect a small package, light weight and all, but he delivers me this huge box, that weighs a ton. I was confused, what could this be? It was from Kruk cards.

Would u believe they sent me a whole case of fun packs, instead of one!

Now thats well over 300 packs of vintage football wax packs, and about 600 vintage non-sports wax packs, all for 40 bucks? image

Well I figured Kruck cards ships thousands and thousands of orders yearly, and most likely they will never know what happed to their case of fun packs, as their UPS invoice says only one bag was delivered to me.

The urge to begin ripping those 300+ vintage wax packs, began to eat away at my gut, but at the same time, something else was also eating at my gut, and we all know what that was: ...of course, my conscience!

That case was sent to me in error, as I only won one single 40 dollar 27-pack fun bag. That "left shoulder little conscience devil" was saying, "rip those suckers! ...who cares about a "selling giant" like Kruk cards anyway, tuff luck for them"! And that "sweet looking right shoulder conscience angel" said to me, "rd, you better do whats right here, u better send that case right on back to its rightful owner".

So, like a "first class dope", I called Kruk cards first thing this morning, told them what they did, I got to tell you, he didn't sound that greatful to me, but I guess I didn't "do the right thing" for them anyway!

But I did extort from them an extra Fun Bag for my troubles! image. (Plus return shipping!)

So, after all is said and done, I will wind-up with two 70s Fun Packs for a total of 48 bucks delivered! Not bad and a clear conscience to boot!

Your story helps me decide what I would do should something like that happen to me from that seller.

I ripped about 10 of these bags about 5 years ago and the unopened packs are just sitting there. PM me you addy and for the shipping cost I'll gladly send one of each on to you.

Bob, tough call on that. Sucks that Kruk was not happy about your honesty. After a response like that I would have told him to kiss my hairy beanbags and block me from his bidding list and to not expect this package returned.

  • Dave and Adams once double shipped me an order I placed. When I called them about it they told me to go ahead and keep it. It was a 90 dollar mistake on their part. The next week I was browsing their site and saw that I was named the winner of their weekely 100 dollar gift certificate. I never said anything about it. I am assuming that is just how they wrote it off

  • Wow. Bummer that they didnt Thank You 20X as I would if I was them. Bet you wish you could go back in time.

Once the man in front of me in line paid for his items and was leaving WalMart and left his wallet. I ran to parking lot with it and didnt see him. I opened it to get the name and started shouting his name. Looking like a drugged out lost kid, I finally chased him down from the picture. He immediately looked inside to find his hundred dollar bill and multiple 20's and said "Oh" and turned around and left. I didnt want money or his daughter for the nite but a simple "Thank You" would of been nice. Now I kick small animals.

I was over at a friend's house and I was sleeping on the couch. I start to feel a small weight on my chest and I was hoping that it was my friend's girlfriend leaning in to tell me how she really liked me instead (long story there image ), then I open my eyes and see this furball staring at me! In one sweeping motion, I launched the hairball off of my chest and across the room back towards the bathroom which he/she was supposed to be locked in! Devil cat! You B@stard!

I actually remember buying these back in the day. We would get them at Halloween for if I remember correctly 2 bags for $3.

I of course wasn't into sports cards at the time so kept all the non-sports and gave the rest out as treats. image

Still have some of the cards in really bad condition.

I cannot believe Kruk cards shipped me that case, with only a single piece of tape kipping the bottom of the case from opening! Can u imagine a box weighing 50 LBS being held together by a single strip of tape on the bottom? I have no idea why it didn't break-up while being delivered to me?

In any event, I re-taped it, shlepped it to Office Depot/UPS, and spent $43.71 in shipping it back (he promissed to reimburse me!). I'm going to send him a letter:

    1. Letting him know, not only did his shipping department make a huge error to begin with but;

    2. allowed this 50 pound case to be shipped with just one piece of tape on the bottom (how it "held together" is beyond me!);

    3. plus, not that I was looking for a big, sincere thanks from you guys, I got, what I felt to be a "pretty weak thank you", that didn't sound all that sincere;

    4. and lastly, you offering me a $10 credit towards my next purchase! Whoopie!

Just a heads-up! I've purchased from Kruk cards in the past and have always, been satisfied. I think I'll purchase from them again. I just wanted to let them know, to express a little more appreciation when someone saves them from a possible loss of $ 1,000 to $ 1,400. But the worst part of this all, was the way they shipped me a 50 LB case of vintage material. Not good.

Wow! I just received a call from Eric at Kruk cards, to personally thank me for calling and returning the case of fun bags. He was very sincere, and explained he had someone new in the shipping department. I told him whomever answered the phone this morning didn't seem that concerned or sincere that I brought this shipping error to their attention. I further explained about how they shipped this 50 pound box with the single tape on the bottom.

Again Eric, on behalf of George the owner, offered his sincere graditute and thanks for what I've done!

Then he offered me a $50 credit on a future purchase! Tha was pretty image

Sounds to me like this song was written for somebody as unappreciative and cheap as Kruk Cards was here.

May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose
    (Neal Merritt)

One fine day as I was walkin' down the street
Met a beggar man with rags upon his feet
Took a penny from my pocket,
In his tin cup I did drop it
And I heard him say as I made my retreat.

chorus: May the bird of paradise fly up your nose
May an elephant caress you with his toes
May your wife be plagued with runners in her hose
May the bird of paradise fly up your nose.

I was way behind one day to catch a train
Taxi driver, "said we'll make it just the same"
But a speed cop made it with us
And as he wrote out the ticket
I stood by politely waitin' for my change.

chorus: May the bird of paradise fly up your nose
May an elephant caress you with his toes
May your wife be plagued with runners in her hose
May the bird of paradise fly up your nose.

Well, my laundry man is really on his toes
Found a hundred dollar bill among my clothes
When he called me, I came runnin'
Gave him back his dime for phonin'
And I heard him sayin' as I turned to go.

chorus: May the bird of paradise fly up your nose
May an elephant caress you with his toes
May your wife be plagued with runners in her hose
May the bird of paradise fly up your nose.

Yes, u can see whats inside a "fairly clear" plastic bag. It seems like Topps mixes-up the pack selection. My limited experience with the "mix of packs" so far is 1/2 sports packs and 1/2 non-sports packs.

In my opinion, what is neat about these bags, is the human element. Someone had to select different pack material for each bag.

    Here is an example:

Someone at Topps threw-in two 1979 Topps The Black Hole packs into the bag. Where did those come from? The Black Hole was, I think a Walt Disney Movie back in the late 70s! Not a single black hole card has ever been graded by PSA, plus I see none for sale (packs, boxes, singles, etc.) on fee-bay! Are these two packs rare? I havn't a clue? image

  • Bob,

I entered Topps Black Hole on eBay search (I was afraid of what I'd find if I just entered "Black Hole" image) and found this ...

    Black Hole Results

Full sets going for $5 and unopened wax boxes of 36 packs for $7.79. Those are eBay Store BIN prices too. You could always make a post in the nonsport forum to see if there's anyopne that collects graded copies. Who knows? Maybe it would be worth your while to rip and inspect. Apparently the unopened wax isn't that scarce but some of those late-70s/early-80s nonsport issues can be tough to obtain in 9 or better.

    Good luck!

The guy who gave you the initial brushoff was probably the idiot who sent you the case in the first place (and who brilliantly secured it with one piece of tape). He was probably a LITTLE afraid of losing his job after you phoned.

Actually, it's kind of funny that this incident should happen now: weren't fun bags originally made to for Halloween?
