How much would a plaque with an autographed photo of Dr. J in action and his 1971-72 Virginia Squire

My wife gave it to me years ago (in the late 1980's or early 1990's). The Rookie Card is in Mint Condition and the photo is of Dr. J. in his ABA New York Nets uniform skying and preparing to shoot over Dan Issel of the ABA Kentucky Colonels.

    Thanks for the information.

If I knew how to take and post photos of the plaque, picture and card I would. Since I do not know how to do so, I will have to pass.

I do not know what grade the card would receive if submitted for grading, but IMHO it looks fresh out of the pack It has no marks. It does not have frayed edges. The picture of Dr. J. is centered and the borders are smooth and even. The card is inside of a hard, clear, plastic display case and is mounted on the plaque. I just took the card out of the holder and looked at the back. The back also has no blemishes/defects. I assume the card is a Rookie Card issued after the completion of Dr. J's Rookie season, 1971-72 (he left college after his junior year and played for the Virginia Squires of the ABA). The back of the card has his stats for his Rookie year with the Squires (including 27.3 points per game). No card manufacturer is listed on the card; however at the bottom of the back is the symbol for copyright protections [a small "C" inside of a circle], 1970 A.B.A.P.A. [ABA Players Association], 1970 A.B.A. [American Basketball Association] and TCG [the initials for the card manufacturer?] and PRTD In USA [printed in USA].

Dr. J is my favorite player and I won't part with the plaque any time soon [especially since it is a gift from my wife], but it is nice to know it has some market value in the sports collectibles market.
  • Oh yeah buddy, that's an awesome gift(especially for a sportsfan like yourself).

Thought I would send this post to the top in 2011 to see if anyone can give me their thoughts on the current value of my Dr. J plaque.

    What do you think?
  • How about some pictures. I see back in 2006 you said you didn't know how.

Any changes on not being able to provide some pictures or scans?

Just wondering as I would love to see it.

I just sent off a Dr. J Game used Auto card from Exquisite to be sold. Will have a buy it now of $275.
