Look at this piece of beautiful copper. Talk about being made by hand. Some of these design elements proved that if they didn't get it right the first time- or the second time-why not try a third or fourth time???
This is a 1625 Pope Gregory X111 "Anno Santo/Holy Year" Issue
It is 32 mm (roughly bust half dollar size), copper, and features Pope Gregory X111 on the obverse and the "Holy Year" door- that is opened only once every 25 years- on the reverse.
I love this piece. For a variety guy like myself, I could (and will) look at this thru a glass for hours.
Just wanted to share this one.
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

Congrats on a couple of nice pickups!
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." -Luke 11:9
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." -Deut. 6:4-5
"For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; He will save us." -Isaiah 33:22
But it's quite different, I must say.
