  • Yes, almost all my detecting is done west of the Rockies. This year when I wasn't at home (So. Calif), I detected in Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Utah, and No. Calif. I always take my detectors with us on vacation, and even in the evenings after we have pulled into an RV park I pull them out. Sometimes I accidentally fall into a treasure that I wish I could stay in for a week or so. That would be the case in Oregon along the Columbia at a very small RV park. From your earlier posts I suppose you are in Idaho. Most of my detecting in Idaho has been at a farm where I spent summers as a teen on my uncle's dairy. There is some good stuff at that old farm. It's not the type of dairy people think of nowadays. Most recently we went to Tahoe for 9 days. While there I picked up over $30 in change. Most of it was clad, but I did find a few wheaties and a few silver pieces. On the days when I was relic hunting I found two very old pocket knives and several buttons. Nothing to rave about, but good dirty fun! There are some good finds up around West Glacier, Montana area. The Northern Pacific Railroad spent many years putting a pike through that area and if you find the correct places, one can even find dated railroad nails (spikes). Those are priceless to me.image
