These were from the French Mint (in the 70s!) Double thickness proofs (Piefort)

They still look fantastic (owned them now for over 25 years).

I'm one of the 249 suckers (I bought two of them!) that bought these Pieforts (Proofs) from the French Mint....

    Low mintage stuff like that can sell pretty well these days. You may not be as big a sucker as you thought!

  • France made a vast variety of these up til the early 90's, although base metal Piedfort production ended several years earlier.Does anyone know why production ended? I was hoping that they would produce a Euro Peidfort set. I own a few French base metals and the Statue of Liberty commem.
