15-20 year old baseball sets as low as $5; am I the only one who finds this rather odd?

Okay, you know how most sets from around 1988-91 are so cheap now? Okay, we all know they did make billions of those cards at that time, but still, doesn't anyone find it strange that cards that are now 15-20 years old are still only worth about $5 a set? I bet no one could imagine during the hobby's peak years (late 80s early 90s) that cards that old would be worth so little.

There are no real shortages of any of those cards....and the demand for those is next to nothing.

I guess there's a lot to be said about overproduction.

Indeed. Even though they did seem to learn their lesson about making too many cards starting around 1992 or so, it was starting in the mid-1990s that we ran into another problem that continues today; too many products. In fact, have you noticed that in the last ten years or so, if you give a set at least a year or two, you can buy up the whole set for about the cost of four or five packs when the product was new? For example, remember when 1993 Finest packs were $25 when they first came out, but now you can get yourself a whole set on Ebay for about a C-note (or for about four packs at 1993 value)? I guess when they make so many different sets of cards every year, the previous years sets (especially insert sets) kinda get lost in the shuffle. But now we're back down to two companies (Topps and Upper Deck; remember ten years ago when there were SIX companies???), so maybe that will help somewhat. We can only hope...

people were buying packs to get REFRACTORS. not base cards.
worst. example. ever.

Turn that flag back around to its proper way. The folks responsible for creating that flag and what it stands for have nothing to do with any current war or political stance, and you are disrespecting them and many great Americans who put YOU in a position to come onto your $1000 computer and talk frivilously about sportscards with the rest of us.

I already commented on his "flag" some time back. This fascist/socialist/communist/nazi pile of excrement should be taken off the boards immediately.
Sadly, even this creep is protected by the First Amendment.

I simply cannot look at those photos of dirty low lives parading around the upside down flag. It makes me want to do all sorts of things that I cant get away with saying openly in a public forum like this.

But, I will have to say - when the time comes - guys like that shit their pants, cry for their mommy and thank God people like me are proud to serve.

I don't care for that picture of the flag either, but when you call someone a communist/socialist AND a nazi/fascist at the same time you make yourself look pretty silly.
Also, sad little boys like oddball put up pictures like that for the sole purpose of trying to get a rise out of board members. Why extend to him that satisfaction?

And when you use make a statement against was and use an animated gun firing as an icon you REALLY make yourself look pretty silly.
Actually, not silly, just a plain 'ol twit.
