Other than what's in the Redbook, another good source of info is Don Kagin's book Private Gold Coins and Patterns of the United States. They made $2 1/2's, $5's, and $10's. Their mint was supposedly in Parkwille and the bankers (Conway) were in Georgia Gulch, near where gold was discovered. They made gold coins starting in August 1861, and ended before the end of 1861. The coins are very rare. Restrikes were made in 1956 (est.) and there is a 3-coin set available, I think 200 sets were made.

I have what coinJP posted incl. also a copper one, however it's in the bank so I couldn't post it. I also have a 3 piece set of the restrikes which has all 3 denominations. Here's a link from Heritage that shows 1 of the 3 pieces of the 1956 restrikes. Linky

Also, check out some of the landmark sales in which a Conway piece may have appeared - Garrett, possibly Henry Clifford 1982- but could have been all California gold, and last summer' ANA sales by Heritage, B&M, and ANR all contain some very rare Pioneer Gold. I believe a Conway or two was offered last summer (don't have my research material close by and memory fails me right now). When these pieces appear they are always well researched and cataloged with wonderful historical information. A complete set of Goldine Restrikes recently sold at auction in the last Stacks sale.
