PA Outdoorsman Resurfacing??

Check out ebay seller blp_grlg's auctions. Looks strikingly similar to our old friend in PA. Lots of vintage wax, lives in PA, no Paypal over $100 and private auctions. I hate to think how many buyers are going to be wasting their money on this guy again.

You guys maybe wrong on this one.

There are a few auctions that weren't private in his feedback.

He has plenty of positives and on some big ticket items.

I also see a couple registry guys left him positive feedback also.

I would imagine these were on unopened products as well.

Two things I do not like though:

The 67 packs look like reseals. At the very least someone peaked at the last cards.

All the early feedback is from clothing. Maybe it was his wifes account?

I'm tempted to jump in on one of his items. Anyone else feel this guy maybe legit?

I collect vintage Empty Hockey Display Box's when they come up, which is also few and far between but they always peak my interest when they do.......it seems to me that the 1976 OPC Hockey Box being offered was up for bids on ebay within the year as an Empty Display...... the reason i remember it because of the 1976 written on the top left..***capitalcards-ny***...was the seller

is there a way to do a completed search within the year ... it would be fun to compare the 2

Stay away! Unless you like wasting your money on resealed packs.

    Grote,

With the amount of people gracing these boards these days it's inevitable that opposing opinions will clash. That being said, I appreciate you stepping up and at least offering your opinions on your previous experiences with the respective seller. The largest problem with eBay's feedback system is that it doesn't afford the opportunity for most people to truly leave an accurate and unbiased piece of feedback because of the retalitory neg.

While I'm sure others may have had positive experiences with the seller in question I still appreciate the heads-up you gave if for no other reason than you were trying to help a fellow board member avoid a pitfall. While no one should ever form an opinion of someone or somethign based solely on what one other person said it is still good to hear from both sides of the coin.

    Thanks again,

    Arthur

As a rule of thumb, any seller who suddenly sells super vintage packs in multiple lots like these, with private auctions and no Paypal for recourse is bad news. The unfortunate reality, too, is that many deceived buyers never realize the product their purchasing is fake as many of these con artists are very skilled at the resealing game. Of course, if you actually open the packs, you'd be in for a rude awakening then. Trust your instincts. There's a good reason that Steve Hart estimates that up to 40% of all unopened material on ebay is fake. I've been collecting vintage unopened material for many years now, and though I've never had the displeasure of dealing with this particular resealer, I can tell you now: Don't waste your money.

This guy in my opinion is no doubt looking to make a kill on ebay. If not on these auctions then sooner or later. Won't be any bids from me. Sure he's had some legitimate auctions before - that's makes for a better future scam. Building up the feedback and creating a certain pattern. Then come the auctions worth tens of thousands of dollars and next thing you know after you win a bid and send him the money, he gets narued and your money is gone.

Description below from one of his completed auctions. What the heck is auction interference? LOL

Nice item of unopened material for the sportscard collector. This lot includes 49, 1976 Topps football unopened wax packs. These packs came from the fun bags put out which included non sport card packs as well. I must say though that these packs are in very nice condition given they were in the bags. Key cards from this year include Payton rookie, White rookie, Swann, Bradshaw, etc. As you can see by my stellar feedback and over a years worth of selling material and more recently wax boxes and packs, you can bid with confidence. Some have asked why I have elected to go private, this is to cut down on auction interference. Please remember all my auctions have a few rules of which I do not deviate. I do not accept paypal on items over 100.00, don't ask or send payment as it will be refunded, I do not place reserves on items, shipping charges are non negotiable, I will combine costs on multiple items if won at the same time, I do not put reserves on my auctions, due to the prevalence of resealing packs there are no refunds or returns on unopened product. I could not guarantee an item if returned from someone I did not purchase it from. Please feel free to ask any questions that may not be listed in description or call if you need to, but do NOT bid if you do not intend to pay or abide by the rules. I adhere to other ebay members auction rules and expect the same courtesy. I do not respond to emails in which the question is answered in the description. Thanks for looking.

A euphemism for experienced collectors warning unsuspecting buyers, I'm sure. Agree with you 100% on the FB building ploy.

".................paypal only accepted on items under 100.00........"

    //////////////////////////////////////////

I asked about this last month in regards to avoiding the
requirement to obtain a return-receipt signature on items
    over $249.99.

I was told that if I wanted to accept PayPal on EBAY, I could
not exclude any payment format (credit cards), and that I
could not set a dollar limit.

Anybody know for sure if this is correct?

Oh yea you're right about that. Surprising he would place that thought in a bidder's mind, perhaps he thinks he is building credibility in himself by doing so? Scammers sometimes can be clever, and for sure scammers always think that they are clever.

It appears as though this time he's smart enough to sprinkle in some legit lower dollar items, and build up good feedback in doing so. The pictures he's taken have the same "style" as the ones from scammers of the past.

Why in the hell would anybody selling legit high dollar unopened product have bidding kept private AND not accept paypal? Like I said before, I hope he dies.

The thing that's tough about this kind of stuff is...

That it's kind of like watching a train wreck in progress that you feel you could have prevented but probably won't be able to stop!

And moreso, why would anybody not submit this supposedly authentic stuff to PSA now that they will be grading packs, knowing that the value would increase substantially? Seller clearly knows about PSA (makes references to SMR).

Like I said, I hope he dies.
