Canadian Penny???

I have a 1947 canadian penny with a star next to the 7, all othere that i have have no star, whats that mean with a star???

Collect raw morgans, walkers, mercs, SLQ, barber q. Looking at getting into earlier date coins pre 1900s.

    I have no idea. You might try asking over in the World and Ancient Coin Forum. Those folks are pretty sharp.

    are you sure it is a star and not a little maple leaf?

    The small maple leaf near the date is due to a die shortage at the Canadian mint in 1948. Rather than stop production, they decided to use dies dated 1947 and add the maple leaf to denote the coin was struck in 1948. No real premium until you get to MS65 red.
