MY GOOD BUY YESTERDAY & question about a game used bat
Yesterday, I purchased a car load (literally) of cards and collectibles from someone locally. (I would ask this question to the person I bought them from, but she inherited the collection from her late mother-in-law, and she knows nothing about it). In this collection were 3 game used bats. One was from Mark McLemore, and one was from Tim Spehr (Royals, Expos).
My question concerns the 3rd bat. On the bat is "Slackman". Who is "Slackman"?
One possible clue could be that it is quite likely that it's from the Orioles organization. The reason I say this is because that 90% (yes 90%) was Cal Ripken and Orioles stuff. Believe me, if it has an Orioles logo, I've probably got it. If Ripken was on it, I've probably got it. Before I purchased the stuff, I just briefly went through it looking for cards. I really thought it was mostly junk. I did see a few decent cards in there. So, since the lady "just wanted it out of her way", I offered her $150 for everything. She took it in a flash. Well, I get it home and start looking through it. Like I said, mostly Orioles stuff. But, the more I dig, the better it gets.
Here is some of the highlights of my findings (and I'm not through yet). A 1982 Topps Traded Set (Ripken); Another 1982 Topps Traded Ripken single; 1982 Topps Ripken; 1982 Fleer Ripken; 1982 Donruss Ripken; 1978 Topps Eddie Murray; Franklin Batting Glove Autographed by Cal Ripken; Cal Ripken Autographed Poscard; Frank Robinson Autographed Postcard; 1985 Donruss Big Diamond Kings Cal Ripken autographed; some little advertisement autographed by Cal Ripken; 1991 Topps Desert Shield Record Breaker Cal Ripken autographed; 1991 Topps Desert Shield Billy Ripken autographed; 1991 Topps Desert Shield Orioles Team Set (I think it's complete; that includes another of Cal and Billy Ripken); 1984 Topps Uncut Sheet with Ripken; 1994 Fleer Update Set with a pristine Alex Rodriguez; Topps Traded Sets from 1986 through 1991; approximately 500 DIFFERENT Cal Ripken cards (that I will probably eBay as one lot); 1972 Carlton Fisk rookie card (EXMT); 1970 Topps Frank Robinson (high number); Orioles programs from the 1980's.
That's just the highlights, and I not through going through the cards. And I thought it was mostly junk. Not bad for $150.
Anyway, back to my question - who is "Slackman"?

(Edited to say) - I just got on your website and looked at the different versions. I will look when I get home to see EXACTLY which ones I have.
I found the same thing on Left Field Collectibles. There was no first name. I also checked several websites for any "Slackman" that played and could not find one.

<< <i>Yes, I found three. There was the "F Face", "black scribble", "and black box."
