Thank God I'm nearly done selling PSA cards on Ebay......

I have about 4 weeks worth of PSA cards left to sell here for my dad. The past couple of months selling the low dollar stuff has been extremely annoying with people paying 2,3 and even 4 weeks afterwords and people not even paying (like slatsme from HERE did to me). People that don't answer invoices, don't follow instructions, send a check in an envelope with no auction number or anything, etc......
I doubt that I will fool with the leftover raw stuff because I can only envision the potential for problem children with those getting MUCH worse. That and I really don't have a clue what to charge for the raw stuff or how to even start it. I may offer to fill some people's want lists on HERE for those of you building RAW sets.
It seems like the amount of hassle is directly related to the $ amount.
Thanks for allowing me to vent!!

if he mails me a bubble mailer and shipping supplies, he's going to have to use a big enough mailer to hold all of that and pay postage on that. I'm assuming he would guesstimate and put some postage on the return one??
So he'd have to buy or use 2 bubble mailers, something to pack the cards in, and postage on 2 mailers.......

I feel for you...I had a guy at my table at Sunday's show. I gave 2 little kids some freebie packs and another a stack of Red Sox commons. This guy who is standing there, about 55-60 years old, then comes over and want to try to deal. How much for these 3 cards...what about if I add this one...what about if I take just these 2 but not that one...what about this..how much is that...
You know the sort of person. So, I..in my best professional demeanor give this guy all the answers he wants.
I pretty much give him the 3 cards for $8.00...and I think they were $10-$12 each book price. He then hands me the $8.00 and grabs a rack pack off the table..and puts it in his bag.
I asked him what he thought he was doing...and he says "what?..you gave one to each of the kids!"
ok..1st....they're kids...
2nd..don't EVER take anything off my table without expecting to lose and arm!!
3rd..don't assume what goes for one...goes for all...
It gets better..he then tells me that he wants his $8.00 back and doesn't want the cards because I embarassed him.....
THAT'S when the embarassment started!!! lol
ME: "ok you cheap ^$#$%^..just hand the cards back"
HIM: "why are you mad at me?" handing the cards back....
ME:"because you're a %$$##$ moron and I don't have time to waste on oxygen pirates like you..."
HIM;" well, I really wanted the 3 cards...but if you're going to be like that.."
drumroll......
I hand him his $8.00......hand him the rack....take the 3 cards that he wanted and ripped them in half....handed them to him and wished him a good day.
"There....you got everything you wanted....do yourself a favor...don't ever stop at my table again!!"

I just started selling raw recently and it is a bitch! I posted about the guy who got the cards and wanted a refund because the corners didn't look as good. I put up a HUGE scan and they were obviously lower grade cards. Now, I have 7 different buyers that owe me somewhere from $3- $7 and I have had to send out a bunch of e-mails and have had no response in nearly 45 days. I would do like 5stat and tear it in their face if I had the chance. But since its on eBay, I just try to do all I can to avoid negs. Its stupid to work as hard as I have for $3-$7. I likely will not be selling raw much longer and like you, I will try to fill wish lists here.
I already hooked up a member/friend with some Yankees cards. He was happy to get them and I was happy to get rid of them. I named a low price, he paid ASAP, I sent them off and he got the cards and thanked me within 4 days. Thats what I'm talking about!
End of my rant,
Jordan
note to self: Don't stop at 5 stats table and try to negotiate at any show I happen to go to. Don't even stop at 4stats table as he maybe related.

The 'trick' with raw on Ebay, I've learned, is to just undergrade everything by at least 1/2 a grade. That's probably a dumb policy if you're looking to make money, but it's an absolute Godsend if your goal is simply to get rid of the stuff and not have it returned to you, or not have your email inbox stuffed daily with nasty notes from mentally unhinged Ebayers who feel like they 'really got taken for a ride' (exact quote from some moron who once bought from me) on a $4 1957 common.

that is Great!!!
<< <i>Sadly, I agree. Unless the card is graded, the highest I'll list anything at is NrMt-Mint, even if I think it is mint or better. Better to be safe than sorry. >>
I have started doing that. And I grade really carefully and adapted a NM, NM+, NM++ and NM/MT scale with a description in the listing. Anything that is borderline NM, I will just say EX/MT to be safe. I haven't had many issues since I have adapted this on the grading, but chasing someone for less than $10 is not time well spent.

As for poor about-to-be-married zef, wait until he gets grief from me for every little thing wrong with the partial '86 FB sets I want from him!
(just kidding zef - goose'll be a good reference for me as a prompt payer, (mostly) non-idiot! )
How in God's name do you have almost 30,000 posts???!@?!?@!?@

Remind me not to get on your bad side.
Seriously, maybe you should bump up the Prozac by 20 mg.
<< <i>Goose,
How in God's name do you have almost 30,000 posts???!@?!?@!?@ >>
That's only 14 posts per day, every day, for 68 months.
I have met and dealt with many board members here...either at shows or in my shop...
I'm all about the laugh and having FUN in the hobby...
guys like this at the show are the one's who needs the drugs....to come back to reality...
The last show..I probably gave away the equivalent of 4-5 wax boxes....it makes the kids happy...AND is 10 less lbs that I have to pack.
Heck I dropped lawnmowerman 300 Emmit's for nothing...even paid the shipping...again....just to keep the kids happy...sorry Matt!!
But for someone to just take stuff.....heck no....lol
As far as the haggling goes.....I know it annoys some sellers, but that's the nature of the business. The way the 55-60 year old was haggling sounded annoying but he was just hunting for a deal. People have fun doing that.
I know the last straw for you was when he just grabbed the pack assuming it was for the taking. That is certainly not cool. Everything before then has to be accepted though.
