You may have to increase your buy price. They seem to be selling on ebay for $4000+.

<< <i>RYK, after taking into account ebay fees, paypal fees, auction time, possible non paying bidders, etc., the amount that WC is offering seems pretty fair to me. I would rather sell it outright at his price to him then list it on ebay unless I KNEW it was going to get at least $4200 or so.

    Just my opinion. >>

That was exactly my thought. I figured I would post here for forum members at a slight discount because I would be avoiding for the most part the hassle of e-bay.

Oh, and a free TTT for a decent deal.

I have never seen a higher posted public price to date than the $36,100 I have listed here for the (10) sealed sets, including those powerhouse dealers' buy prices for TV on CCE. I would not be surprised if my buy level fell as we get closer to the deadline for First Strike coins. Or, it could higher as I get additional orders for PCGS graded sets. Prices change daily. No matter what happens, how could anyone feel bad about making $10,000.00 profit on a deal that probably hasn't even been paid for yet on ones credit card! What was the last time any collector here made $10,000.00 profit on a $26,100.00 buy of modern coins in 30 days? (not asking sarcasticly - I would really like to know what product was better than this one) Not a bad annual return - no? Wondercoin

Or - ebay # 160035438066 at just $3,500. Prices are all over the place - that is for sure.

RYK - It really isn't appropriate to present this type of information here as you require me to respond and the result may be that my thread unfairly gets TTT'ed more than it shoud. Please just PM me in the future if you want me to know I need to raise my buy price and thanks image

When I first posted to the thread, your buy price was considerably lower than the currently offered $3610. This new price is probably closer to current "wholesale". I did not want to see any forum members who were not following closely enough to leave significant money on the table. After all, an extra $400 on a $2610 modren mint item is an extra 15%, and if they had purchased 100 sets, this $40,000 additional profit would come in handy. image

Ok, I stand corrected. Im not a registry guy, so I dont jump into that forum. I just didn't like the "please PM me instead of posting to my thread" where it was something questioning a price, yet when GRANDAM was all over that previous thread, he didn't make a public "please dont TTT my thread, just PM me with your additional orders" statement.

Not that this was the first time Ive been corrected on these boards image

I took a day off yesterday to ask for forgiveness on Yom Kippur.

I upped my price! Starting to look like a leap game. But I understand the market is going to get flooded with the main shipment of these 20th anniversary sets as I understand from outside sources that only 2000 to 2500 sets had been received by collectors/investors/dealers so far. The bulk amount is coming out in the next few days.

We may nearing a short term price peak of these sets?

Just wondering how it is you know that 2000 to 2500 sets have been delivered and when the rest are going out?

Do you have a source at the shipment center? Inquiring minds want to know.

I am more than anxious to get mine!

I took an unscientific survey of 10 dealers and 10 collectors across the country and it appears up to 20% to 25% have been received.
Calling the US Mint only creates more confusion than clarification!

A lot of these sets have been and continue to ne pre-sold on ebay. Do not overestimate the size of the float.

"as I understand from outside sources that only 2000 to 2500 sets had been received by collectors/investors/dealers so far"

While that may be a pure guess on your part, I personally think you are about right. I know of folks who ordered at 12:15 p.m. EST and still have not received their sets. Like you said, it should be interesting to see what happens when these (possible) 7,500 all hit the market at once.

In the meantime, being the "modern poker player" I am, I'll raise the "bet" on the sealed sets to $4,150/set, subject to my terms in the first post. Just PM me if you want to sell today.

Man it is one wild rocket ride price-wise. I had a hunch these would go somewhat crazy, but not this nuts.

The opened 3-piece sets are running about $5500
NGC/PCGS PF70 Reverse Proof Only is about $6000
NGC/PCGS PF69 Reverse Proof Only is about $5000

I hear the 2nd shipment went out today - if not enough people who thought they were getting some enters the bidding war, I think they will go even crazier.

    My ttt for the day.

OK - in addition to the $43,500 I'll pay for the (10) sets today, if seller desires to deliver them personally, I'll not only pay for the car from the airport, a fine hotel for up to 2 nights, but, I'll throw in dinner at Mortons or Ruth's Chris where we can discuss moderns for hours! image

P.S. Can Oreville talk moderns with you at dinner for hours on end? Come to think of it, is that a plus or minus?

Wondercoin you go from a luxury hotel in an earlier post to a fine hotel. Is that change to help cover the cost of Mortons or Ruth Chris? I'd prefer Fogo De Chao, but I don't have 10 sets so I guess it doesn't matter.
  • orevilleoreville Posts: 12,058 ✭✭✭✭✭
pf70collector: In my case, I need to be careful not to be the market maker or "lead/drive" the market with ever higher buying prices.

That can be a dangerous thing as well. I am trying to react to ever increasing prices not "create" them.

I respect wondercoin in that he seems to be doing the same.

We are certainly NOT colluding price wise in any way!

Oreville, I understand. These sets can go either way but I see these going up then down. I wish you and WonderCoin the best in acquiring these unopened sets. By Saturday more will definitely will begin to appear I am sure. I was caught up in the frenzy yesterday offering an unopened set for $4800.00.
