Cano is a great player, no doubt. I mean; in the 5 game series at Fenway Cano nearly outnumbered both Manny and Ortiz(Cano 10 RBI to a combined 11). Now, he wasn't around for the toughest stretch of the season b/c of his hammy injury but he's going to be a guy to watch for the next 10+ years.

Cano would be a serious MVP candidate if he did not miss a month. His numbers are excellent for the time played, but I know the voters will use his DL stint against him. But WOW, what a player Cano turned out to be. The same goes for Wang!!!!

MVP, No ... but Jerry, TRUST ME. You will NEVER be taken serious by anybody here until you can get past hating the Yankees soooo much that it makes it IMPOSSIBLE for you to see any of their players for how talented they are. You spent all last winter trashing the Yankee farm system and Robinson Cano. And still, you just can't bring yourself to tip the cap. Can't do it.
C'mon, Dan - Cano for MVP? I know this thread was started as a joke, but then - a few posters actually bought into it! Even the "uber-Yankee" fan as yourself sees this as nonsense, and I was just having some fun with it.
He's turned into a decent offensive player, but that's all.
I will go on the record by saying Cano for mvp is a total joke. Good young ballplayer, may win a batting title, but it stops there. I seriously hope that nobody was even remotely serious by suggesting he is a candidate, full season or not.
"The other teams could make trouble for us if they win." -- Yogi Berra
I don't think anyone was being serious about Cano and the MVP. He'll finish top three in batting average but that's about it this year. He won't end up on any writer's MVP ballot--Jeter will. Damon and Rivera will get a few votes, but that's about it for the Yankees.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Looking for Al Hrabosky and any OPC Dave Campbells (the ESPN guy)
We all know that the Yankees haters just need to keep digging for reasons to hate them. The Yankees farm system has proved many people to be wrong and the only thing they can do is talk crap about these kids who have come up to do an excellent job. Pretty sad really. In fact, better than excellent because they have HUGE contributions in keeping the Yankees competative, and in fact, winning the AL East title! But, I suppose if I was a Red Sox fan, I would be bitter too because then my team would SUCK!!! Lots of jealousy in the blood of Bosox fans right about now.
Cano may not be anywhere near MVP, but is developing into one of the leagues top 2B. Just as Wang is developing into a top pitcher...in the AL EAST!! Yes, Yankees haters cant stand that.
Cano finally got enough at bats to be ranked for the batting title. He was not on the charts for some time.
To finish in the top three in batting is an awesome accomplishment. For the price the Yankees are paying Cano and the type of player he is---its a bargain. It was well worth going for this home talent than just renting a free agent.
I don't get why the Yankee haters put their objectivity on the shelf when it comes to evaluating Yankee players. I have no problem praising players from other teams or complimenting their prospects. Cano is an excellent player and on the rise. He still has potential. He will be watched in the next couple of years. What's wrong with that assessment? He is better this year, than last. An amazing contact hitter so far in his maturing career.

Grady Sizemore of the Indians has 52 doubles. That must make him the real MVP.
