Mariners End 15 Game Losing Streak to A's

in Sports Talk
Scored 3 runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie it, winning it in the 10th.
If the M's had simply split those 15 games 8-7, they'd be 2 games ahead of the A's.
Oh well, at this point I'm praying for a .500 season, but they need to go 6-1 over the last 7 to do that.

I don't know what they're going to do. The Beltre signing is looking like a disaster (for the $$ they're paying him) and I don't see why you would ever trade a decent left handed starter-- even if Moyer was 80 years old. Hopefully Felix gets it together next year, Kenji continues to mature and they become more competitive in 2007. Although if A-Rod goes to the Angels in the offseason that certainly won't help their future prospects.
Moyer was odd man out in a team that needed to get younger. M's will likely be making a push for Jason Schmidt this offseason, and either 2 or 3 rotation spots will be up for grabs.
The middle of the infield, with Bettencourt and Lopez, is set for years to come. Both are solid players, both are young, and will give the middle infield stability. Sexson's quietly had a solid year, batting .265, 30+ HRs and 100+ RBIs.
The outfield, with Ichiro, Snelling, and Ibanez looks to be solid next year.
Sexson really turned it around after a dismal start. Glad your happy about your M's, if they could pull Jason Schmidt, that would be a step in the right direction.................My Red Sox stuffed it right in my......Well you know...I gotta wear this FREAKING Yankee thing for a month.

<< <i>Mariners are garbage. I hope Ichiro leaves so he has a real shot at playing in a World Series with a contender. Hell, I'd love to see him come play for the Nats. Maybe play center field(Sori, Ichiro, Kearns; not a bad outfield in my book) for them. >>
The only garbage here is between your ears.
Mariners have the makings of a solid team...great young talent, and Ichiro won't be going anywhere.
And neither will the Mariners, as far as the postseason is concerned!
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
I will be laughing my ass off when Ichiro says goodbye to Seattle! His contract ends after the 2007 season...in one year, I will be asking who wants to take bets on how quickly Ichiro disses Seattle and becomes very public about finding a new team.
We all know that the tides from Seattle fans will turn on Ichiro spewing stats from when he was a rookie and is now washed up. Yeah, thats the way it works.
But Ichiro will find a nice new home, making good money, on a team that has a shot at winning a pennant. With money tied up in TRULY washed up players, what would make Ichiro want to stay? And he doesnt even have to call the other superstars that left that rainy city...he has found out first hand and will also be taking the next bus out.
<< <i>Obviously not solid enough, eh? >>
Can't depend on so many rookies to be consistent enough to carry a team through an entire season, and, up until a bad 11 game skid in august, they were right in the hunt. They'll be just fine next year.

Ichiro isn't going anywhere you mindless twit.
<< <i>We all know that the tides from Seattle fans will turn on Ichiro spewing stats from when he was a rookie and is now washed up. Yeah, thats the way it works. >>
I, for one, have never 'dissed' a player who left Seattle - Arod, Griffey, and Unit all left and I didn't have an issue with any of them leaving. Perhaps if you knew anything beyond the koolaid you are force fed in ny, you'd know this. Time it admit it - you don't know chit about anything.

'Truly washed up' players? This coming from a guy who supports a team with players like jaret wright and carl pavano making tens of millions of dollars? You want to see truly washed up players, hell, turn on YES network - they're in pinstripes every night!
But isnt it interesting how the Yankees have depended on rookies like Cano, Wang, Proctor, Phillips, Cabrera and they hung in there? Oh, wait...Yankees farm system sucks? HA! Yeah, lets hear how they have others around them? Wouldnt even be a good arguement when Pavano, Matsui, and Sheffield have been out most of the season.
And what is wrong with Jarret Wright? 11-7 and had a fairly strong season. Not spectacular but strong. At least for this season, I would have taken Wright over King Felix!
Yeah, I agree with Pavano being an over paid good for nothing...but is that all you can come up with? You are definately one mindless troll.
We'll see who is the mindless twit once Ichiro's contract is up. Unless the Mariners pony up some HUGE money, which is unlikely, dont count on Ichiro staying. The man truly has no reason to want to stay. It is highly unlikely the Mariners can do anything to make him happy now.
And do you speak for the hundreds of thousands of Mariners fans? Who cares if YOU ALONE didnt diss the players that left Seattle. Griffey, ARod, and Johnson all got completely bashed when they packed their bags to leave.
Is your hero Richie Sexson? You mean someone who K's 150+ times in less than 600 AB's? Or do you mean Adrian Beltre? The guy who juiced out 48 HRs a couple of years ago...never had more than 23 before and probably wont hit any more than that in a season every again? HAHAHA..please, you leave yourself wide open for the knockout!
And if you didnt know...all the "washed up players" in pinstripes will be on national TV in the playoffs while the mariners are sitting on their lazy-boys at home watching on TV.
Enjoy the playoffs!
Bubble burst, Axtell proved wrong again. It is just too easy.
