The Bears are 3-0 so I got a new HD TV.

I'm sick of living in the CRT age and decided it was time. I actually talked the fiancee into returning the China her mom got us to get the TV. image

I got a 50 inch Samsung LCD from Best Buy. It went on sale today and I saved $300. I was watching it for nearly 3 weeks! Best Buy also had a special for $1000+ TV purchases on-line, you get a free $400 HoMedics Massage chair. I can't wait to get this sucker hooked up!

I hope you signed up for Best Buy's Reward Zone program. It's like $15, but you get a $5 coupon for every $150 you spend...
  • The Redskins finally won a game yesterday .... so I'm trading in my old AM radio for one of those new FM versions I've been hearing so much about!

  • Zef, the Bears looked good on the 60 incher yesterday in my basement in Plainfield!

I was watching football with my girlfriend yesterday, and she was commenting that half the commercials were for big screen TVs, the other half for beer and NFL gear. Apparently quite different from Lifetime and WE.

Congratulations on the pickup! Now tell us, did you think the Bears were going to pull that game out?

Nice pick-up. It's a good test for your fiancee to decide on whether to keep useless China or trade it for a big screen high def TV to watch football games on. Sounds like a good "Let's Make a Deal" trade to me. You've got yourself a smart lady there.

If you have a digital camcorder, I recommend video taping the '75 mini case break and yourself opening your packs. Then you can keep reliving the moment on your high def TV!

That's an awfully long time to spend in a Best Buy.

Wasn't there a place in the Chicago area that had a pre-season sale that refunded the price of the TV if the Bears defense pitched a shut out in the opener? I heard on sports radio here in Boston that they refunded the purchase price on about 3000 TVs. I know they can buy insurance to cover stuff like that similar to the hole in one give aways at golf tournaments, but are they still in business?
  • Good call Zef!

When the Hawks went the the Superbowl last year, instead of dropping (and losing) some coin on the game, I bought a new 62" DLP HD and have loved it since. Football in HD is what it is all about!

You know prices are going to drop 50% next year, right? image

It was furniture. Cost them something like $400,000 in furniture. They had insurance to cover all the losses, won't hurt their bottom line much at all (outside of the insurance premiums).

Enjoy that new TV Zef. Hope you get it set up in time for the Vikes trip to the Windy City, when it will be pay back time!

I hate the Bears, they suck.

While I am at.....I hate the Pack, they suck too.

    No, they're not.

They've already opened the additional LCD manufacturing plants, and prices dropped 25% this year. They won't see drastic price reductions for some time.

    Congratulations Zef!

I think that I speak for all husbands here by saying.....how the hell did you pull that one off? Did you have to agree to only watch the thing when the Bears play? I mean, what's the catch?

I agree. I got a great deal on the TV I wanted.

    In 2000 I bought a 55in Mitsubishi for $2600 image

When I moved in with my fiancee 3 years ago, the movers couldn't fit it up the stairs. So its been at my parents house. I don't even want. image For $1300 I got a Samsung 50in DLP, i know I said LCD in the original post but its a DLP.

The guy at Best Buy told me that LCD's can actually have individual pixels burn out and on DLPs, since they are all mirrors, you can't. That was one reason I chose the Samsung over the 50" Sony Grand Wega.
