But, I suspect that there is no golf course anywhere on which I cannot break 60 on the front/back using only a 7-Iron. When I was very much younger, my favorite bet was 50 with the same club.
Forty-years ago, that was a fairly obscure "sucker bet." Today, I see young guys practicing with 8-Irons on long Par 5s. The bet is "8 or under with an 8," for the novice cons and "7 or under with an 8," for the more experienced guys.

When i worked on a course as a kid they were closed for outings on mondays, and after the outing was done we would have that 9 holes with a 7 iron contest all the time...fun stuff.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy! Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !
I use nothing but a driver, 5 wood, the occasional sand wedge and a putter. Anybody who uses ALL of those bent metal clubs takes the game too seriously, so I stay away.

What a weak bet Stown! Mayyybe I just say that because I'm Irish American...and I'm a drinker lol.
My first time out for 18 I went with my brother(7 years my senior) who had really introduced me to the game. I ended up breaking 100 on a par 72 and beat him by around 10 strokes. My goal is simply to beat my brother. Now, I have a 15 handicap but that will be lowering itself once I find time to get back on the fairways. I just got my clubs out of my buddies house and now I'm back to practicing. Hopefully, in a year or two I'll drop down to a single digit handicap. I've been golfing seriously since I was a teenager, but before then just practiced placement shots in my backyard with a wiffle golf ball(it works guys).
Also, I'm a addicted to GoldenTee. What a bargame!

If you ever come down to H, I'll pay for your round just to see you finish 18 beers in 4 hours (in Houston's heat, mind you) and still finish the round without needing to call 911
