Question about Franklin/Kennedy Half dollars

Do you think that we would still have Franklin half dollars if President Kennedy wasn’t assassinated?
By the way this is a question from my 14 year old sons social studies class.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Yea, I can see it now. Ike would have been put on the half dollar in 1971 and Truman would have been put on the dollar.
onto the half in 1964 but over time the differences would become very pronounced.
If everything else had stayed the same (which of course couldn't be), then perhaps
Franklin would have been dropped a couple years back for another dead president.
(Reagan).
There have been relatively few calls to put anyone on a coin since 1964.

Between what actually happened and a world where Kennedy wasn't killed.
Yuck
Maybe it's good the Franklin ended in 1963. That way we only have GOOD memories of it
