Question on ........"Old Green Rattlers"

I recently purchased a 1940 Lincoln, these marks were on the side of the "rattler"

Any chance this was tampered with?

looks just like some accidental damage to the holder. I really don't think the coin has been tampered unless the coin looks weird

I could be wrong but I think you would have to do a little more damage to the holder than that to even get to the coin.

Those are known as MOC marks.

SNMAN, based upon the images, I see no reason to be concerned. Also, keep in mind that someone is apt to tamper with a holder/coin only if/when it is worthwhile financially. Unless the coin is a PR67RD, there wouldn't be much upside in trying to switch/having switched coins.
