Nice Ebay Story

Here's a story about a deent seller on Ebay that I thought I'd share.
About three months ago I bought a bunch of '03 Topps Chrome Dwyane Wade cards-- about 5 of them or so. Anyway, the cards start rolling in, and I keep socking them away on the bookshelf. About four weeks after my buying frenzy I get an email from ebay seller 'galasports' telling me that I bought one of these from them, but that they appear to have an extra one in stock, so they want to know if I ever received mine or if they perhaps forgot to mail it. Now, by this time I've discarded all the bubble mailers that the cards came in so I have no real idea who sent me one or who didn't, so I basically ignore the email.
Fast forward another month or so. I'm cleaning out the gambling/sportscard room in the basement and I happen to stumble across the old bubble mailers that these Wades came in. Things are a little slow, so I check the mailers with each card I received and sure enough they all match up. Then I go and check my old purchases, and noticed I bought five but only received four cards. At this point I email galasports, tell them that I 'think' they forgot to mail me the card, but that I can't be sure and that I have zero plans of screwing around with Paypal complaints, neg. feedback, etc., if they don't want to send me the card. After all, it's been like two months, and if it mattered that much to me I should have followed up on the matter when they sent me the original email.
I never hear back from them, so I consider the issue dead. And then, about a week ago, an '03 T. Chrome Dwyane Wade shows up in the mailbox. All of which goes to show two things.
1) You definitely want me bidding on your cards, since even if you stiff me and don't send them it appears as though I won't do anything about it, and
2) There still are some ebay sellers out there who value honesty for it's own sake.

I think there are more honest people on ebay then dishonest ones. Its just we talk about the scammers and bad sellers more so it seems like they are more of them.

Well its human nature to always talk about negatives. How many times do you hear someone come home and say "Man I just had the best trip to Wal-mart ever.."?? You don't.
There are millions of Ebay transactions a week and we only hear a couple of dozen neg stories a week.
the right thing. Because the seller-pool is so large, that
extra 2% can cause a heck of a lot of trouble.
Many buyers - people who never sell - hate sellers and
tend to be less honest, I think.
Sadly, bad sellers have driven lots of good buyers away.
Thus, sellers are now having to deal with more bad buyers.
After the holidays, I think I will set up a big "collectible super-shop"
on my own site. I do not envision closing down any of the eBay
spots, but I really feel less comfortable there than I used to. Of
course, my business has been terrible there lately so I am influenced
by that, too.

<< <i>Honesty is always the best policy. You can never go wrong just being straight up with people. You earn respect and a loyal following and a lot of good friends. That's worth more to me than a few extra bucks anyday.

Its also a good reminder for us buyers
is that we keep track of what we buy
and make sure we receive the lots that we paid for.
The feedback option helps as I personally post feedback upon
receiving each lot, so its easy to see if any have are missing feedback.
Which translates to lots that have not been recd'd...jay

Most people are honest and want to do the right thing. The problem lies in ebay being a magnate for scammers I guess.

When I sell cards on ebay, I'm only going to send them after the buyer emails to find out where his card is. That way, the people who lose track of their purchases will never realize I didn't send them their card. I could sell the same card three times over. I really see no downside. Thanks for the great idea boo!!.................. Ouch, why did lightning just strike my head? That's like 5 times this week.

I can guarantee I'd be your best customer, and you'd never get a neg. In fact, you'd probably never get another email about the cards. Which is pitiful, I know, but it speaks to the grotesque level of disorganization with which I live my life. Thank God I found a woman who's every bit as flaky as I am... Hell, we're the only people I know who ravaged our credit ratings not because we don't have money to pay the bills, but because we just 'never get around to it'
