While I'm somewhat pleased with the results.

I don't understand what 'Recolored' means on the Ryan card. Can anyone clarify?

And, the '82 Ryan is perfect. I just don't see anything wrong with this card. I've louped the corners and checked the centering. This one has me baffled. Am I missing something?

The Sandberg O/C, come on I've seen worse with no O/C.

I was shocked that one of the Clemens' got a 9. It had the stringy things coming out of the corners and it had that red dot by the Topps logo.

I just don't really understand how they grade at times. I've been in this hobby on/off for over 30 years. Some of the cards that I thought would grade lower didn't and some that I know should've done better didn't. This has been my quandry about grading my cards for years.

I wish that they could tell you why a card got a certain grade. Otherwise, I just shake my head and wonder what was wrong.

I can post scans later, if anyone wants to see.

Thanks for any input.
AJ

  • Re-colored means the card was touched up with a marker or dye. For example, someone might attempt to paint the "white" chips on the edge of a black bordered card to make it look smooth, or to disguise a corner with a "white" point. I would have to guess re-coloring would be less common on 77s since they are white bordered.

If you view the card surface in sunlight, it should be obvious where the re-coloring was applied.
  • Nice grades!

It's not you, AJ. Believe me.

Re-colored means someone likely took to the card with a magic marker.

Rumor has it, PSA is tough on membership subs.

Got me. I've stopped trying to figure it out a long time ago.

Personal belief is that larger orders receive more favorable grades. Could be wrong, though.

    PSA's grading is a mystery.

Those who have been collecting for several years - like yourself - know what you have.

Crack the lousy grades and resubmit.

Amazing how a $30 card turns into a $1000 card.

Your Ryan is graded the way it was because it's Nolan Ryan. Had it been Rufino Linares, a sure 10!

    Happy collecting, Hoss!

    Thanks. That's what I thought.

The only thing that I'm seeing is the upper/lower left corners have what looks like a darker shade between the front and back of the card. Maybe they were leaning against something. Who knows.

    >>>You would think that they wouldn't be so tough. Try to make the submitter more pleased, so that they'll send more in.

    >>>Yeah. I know. Just a pain in the a$$, going through the process again.

    >>>That's why I finally bit the bullet on getting my stuff graded.
