PCGS price list needs improved............

Does anyone besides myself think that the price list should list prices for all grades that PCGS assigns? How do you figure the price of VF30 or AU53 etc.

There is a reason they call it a Price Guide. It is near an impossible task to come up with what they already have, let alone keep it current. Expanding it..IMO is out of the question.

Dimeman, I agree with you...but then I read WaterSports interpretation of the coin market, and have to go with WS on this one.

It's not perfect, but it has gotten a lot better.

There are members of the board (including your's truly) that are consulted on various series pricing.

Part of the problem is showing non e-bay auction records that support the levels.

If you have those, then you have some proof. Outside of that you won't see much change.

Maybe you should use all caps. image

They do a pretty good job with what they do now. It has to be a ton of work to do it the way it is.

Boy I sure would like to buy some MS67 Mercs that PCGS has listed at 40 bucks at that level.

The "Price Guidance List" is just all over the place.

I'm not talking about how accurate the prices listed are. I'm talking about listing prices that are not listed such as VF30 or AU55 etc.

From what I understand, the Price Guide for AU reflects AU-55 prices so you're covered there.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I assumed the AU was for AU50. There is NO list for any of the VF grades that PCGS assigns like VF20 VF25 VF30 and VF35.

As a general rule, I used the same simple formula that PCGS sister division advises for PSA baseball cards graded less than PSA-5. I estimate each grade, not listed in the price guide, to sell for about 50-65% of the grade above it. Example: a VG will be about 50-65% of the value of a F. This seems to work pretty well overall for me. Obviously, there are many other factors that have to be taken into consideration. Not the least of which, the prices quoted by PCGS are often unrealistic to start with, particularly in rare issues and moderns (too high or too low). This is completely understandable. Price guides are a lagging indicator, they merely are a compilation or estimate of past sales. Current auction sales prices could be much different, and would not be reflected in price guides until later.
