where is a trusty source to buy sealed wax boxes of this stuff? I had them as a child, but my mom threw them out later. Sure, the cards were not kept mint but I wish I had them just to have for sentimental reasons.

I just waited to find someone on ebay that had a clean box and good feedback. If you are patient enough then you will get them for a good price. Some stuff I had a box of sitting around. There is one guy on ebay...TLBase...keep an eye on him, he has some great stuff that he puts up every now and then.

You should checking out the NSU card talk trade board. Just register and begin to trade. It's about the only place to work on non-sports sets.

Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

I found some sellers with perfect feedback that are selling this stuff.

Is $32 w/o shipping good for 1978 Topps Superman 1 series 2, 88 card set with all 16 stickers?

There is also the series 2 set available without the stickers for $10. I think the better buy is the complete deal.

If I buy a nice wax box, I would feel guilty opening all those packs since there are less and less of this vintage stuff every year. I want a wax box, but I probably just keep it that way.

It's not a great deal...but its not unreasonable either.

But just a little advice with these issues....if centering is important to you, buy wax and crack it. Most of these sets are picked through and probably very O/C. Nicely centered cards are not the easiest from these sets. Even with opening a full box, you may have about 70% of the set centered well.

There is still plenty out there, dont feel guilty about cracking a box! Have fun with it!

I have looked at some wax boxes, and they run $60 a piece with shipping. I have no idea if that's good for series 2.

Each box contains 36 packs=360 cards ...36 stickers too

That is $0.17 each card rounded off

The 88 card set without stickers is $15.00 from a perfect feedback seller.

That is $0.17 a card without rounding

I guess buying some wax boxes is in order, that way I get to cherry pick a very good set.

I still need a card #148. Centering not an issues for that card because it is a duplicate set. Let me know if you get an extra and maybe I can help you to fill your extra set(s).

Sure, If I have extras, I certainly would offer them to help you and other Superman collectors. People have given me stuff on here, so I certainly would do the same.

I looked through my collection of Superman recently since I made some new purchases as well.

I have all the cards and stickers for Superman III and Superman II.

I have all the cards for Superman I series 2 but w/o stickers. image

I have a case fresh wax box of Superman I series 1, but its too nice to open. I do not have the heart to do it.

I have a case fresh wax box of Superman I series 2, but its too precious to open.

I also have a Superman II wax box, not case fresh that I could open if I needed to MINT up my current collection.

I found a really good honest seller along the way. I plan on buying more and will just ask him for a spare Superman #148 of series 2. I really do need a Superman I wax box that I am willing to rip open since I need the stickers.

No prob! Good luck with tlbase. I have had a couple of excellent transactions with them.

I would keep those boxes unopened also if you already have the sets. These are great cards! I enjoy looking at them!
