Hey Philly sports fans

Just noticed tonight watching SNY that Lou Tilley was doing a story on the network

Wasn't he a Philadelphia sports guy not too long ago ?

How long ago did he make the switch ?

    Tilley on the CN8 set in 2002.Lou Tilley was born and raised in Philadelphia. He won all-State and all-City honors in football. He attended Wake Forest University on a full athletic scholarship and graduated with a degree in Political Science. During his senior year, Tilley was so seriously injured during a play he almost lost his left leg. Lingering effects from that accident haunt him to this day, including a sports hernia.

    Tilley was host, writer, and executive producer of "Out of Bounds" on CN8 since the show started in March 2005. "Out of Bounds" was a 30 minute program on CN8 which aired every weeknight at 11 PM Local Time and incorporated sports from all across the country. Lou made his last appearance on the network on June 28, 2006 after his contact not being renewed.

    Tilley was also known for doing play-by-play for games that aired on CN8. Before hosting "Out of Bounds", he was host, writer and executive producer for 5 years for "Lou Tilley's Sports Connection" and the lead sports anchor for "CN8 News". He has hosted and called live action for the network for college football and basketball, women's pro tennis, Olympic qualifying figure skating with Olympian Nancy Kerrigan, national level gymnastics with Olympians Shannon Miller and Bart Conner, as well as Major Indoor League Soccer, and Women's pro soccer.

    Tilley has also written a weekly column for the Philadelphia-area Montgomery Newspapers for the last 4 years.

    Before joining CN8, Tilley was the sports director and for a time, the morning news anchor for KYW, CBS 3 in Philadelphia. He was the preseason play by play man for the Philadelphia Eagles for 5 years, with parnters Dick Vermeil, Tom Brookshire, Irv Cross and Dan Jiggets.

    Before that, he was the sports director at WJZ, in Baltimore, and the weekend sports anchor at WBZ in Boston. As sports director at WPCQ in Charlotte, NC, where he began his TV career, Lou covered NASCAR and minor league baseball, where he managed to steal a young Cal Ripken, Jr.'s minor league jersey.

    Tilley in his KYW3 days.During his career, Tilley has gathered 11 Emmy awards. He won "Outstanding Talk Program/Series" in the 2004 Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards. In all, winning 4 with CN8. Tilley's work on "Out of Bounds" has garnered another 3 Emmy nominations for 2006.

    Tilley currently lives in Pennsylvania with his wife and two children.
