A Tone Too Far. One Franklin's over-long stay in a mint set.

Guess I'll submit it just to stop the reverse toning. Reinforces the silver sulfide toning progression outlined in Rob790's thread. Dark, darker, too dark. Although the green across the bell, which doesn't show up here, is pretty.

Ive got some with far worse "progression" than that, but it generally doesn't pay to break up the mint sets anymore, with the decline in Franklin prices coupled with the increase in mint set prices.
and they're cold.

The reverse is a solid 66fbl, strong bells lines which is common on 57d's in my experience, no ticks across them, but the obverse is 65 which means it will go 65.

<< <i>There's at least a slim chance they will "environmental damage " that.

Franklins are declining? Is this recent (with the other portions of the market in decline?)?
We still have about 5-6 to get raw for our album...
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Too far? Looks just about right to me.

This is next to the half, it got the better of the deal:

I thought it looked like a 1957(D)?

<< <i>I am not trying to pick a fight.......but the coin looks AT to me. The only place I ever see that type of blue and purple toning within the rainbow is on coins you post? I have no doubt that the coins are original and in a Mint set but it seems to me that heat or something was brought into the equation.......I have no proof, nor does my opinion really matter in the scheme of things........I just wanted to provide an honest opinion........and yes I do think the coin is very attractive regardless and I would be shocked if it got BB'd. >>
Well of course you are. "the only time I ever see...is on coins you post." Pretty broad brush you're using there. I post lots of coins, mostly beautiful toners.
Here I make a self-effacing joke about ATing these, and you turn it into an accusation. "I have no proof." Well, duh. Pretty low class.
Your assignment: read Rob790's thread on silver sulfide toning progression. If you have, you have no excuse for this display of poor form.
"The only place I ever see...is on coins you post." I can't get over that.

I'd keep the set together myself.

<< <i>I would have thought mint set toning to be more confluent rather than concentric? >>
You thunk wrong! It can be either. Some of the most perfect concentric bullseyes out there are from Treasury Mint Sets!
