Yankees auto collectors - any opinions on this auction?

ebay auction link

I read the PSA/DNA quick opinion he has at the bottom, but I wanted to get some thoughts from some of the experts here...

    Looks like a nice ball.

It had to have come from an old timers game during the 80's, as the ball is a Bobby Brown Pres. ball, and he was president of the American league from '84 to '94.

I just noticed the Pete Sheehy sig...he was the Yankees clubhouse attendant for something like 7 decades....for his auto to be on the ball it had to be a ball from '84 or '85, since Brown wasnt president of the American League until '84, and Sheehy died in 1985.

You want to try and look up the old timers day lineup for 1984 and '85 and see who appeared, that might help a long way. All the sigs appear to be from the same pen, so my educated guess says same day, an old timers day in '84 or '85.

  • I was thinking 85, as Martin was managing the team then...

Notice no Berra sig on the ball.....Yogi was fired early in '85 which started those years where he wouldnt come to Yankee stadium. So most likely is from '85.

  • The sig under Joe D is Joe Collins. He died in '89

    $30 for shipping?!?

    Edited to add threestooges1 feedback

    IMO, he's a shiller.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

Why is it odd? Threestooges1 buys this guys used cotton dockers and Celine Dion Cd's and now wants to buy his baseballs. baseballcardnation has bought 4.00 worth of cards and a Nike baby outfit for feedback and is bidding on 5 of this guys auctions also. You gotta have two shills if you want the big bucks.....

This guy's FB is good and stuff.

The ball looks good to me - of course I wear glasses now.

    But this is cool:

<< <i>We back this up to be PSA DNA certified.
We are sending this ball in for authentication thru PSA/DNA likely now. >>

What the heck does that mean? "Likely now?"

    Could that mean definitely-maybe?

I don't know about the shills tho - hey maybe they're movin on up? image

The part I found interesting is the operative word: "sending" - not on-line submitting for quick opinion.

I don't think the guy was purposely trying to be cryptic - but it's amusing to me. But, I may have an odd/ironic sense of humor.

You're not wrong. Something doesn't sound right. Maybe he sent a pic to an off-brand grader for a "pretty-darn-sure"?
