2- Coin Set and the Unc. Singles ARE the same. New Mint Note :

I think this seals the deal. The single option and the set will have the same coin. This is in the description when you select the 2-coin or 3-coin Silver set, sorry if its been posted:
"Note: The American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coin will also be available as an individual option beginning September 28, 2006. This coin will be minted to demand."

Edited to add: And....what will be the mint mark if any for the regular bullion uncirculated SAE?

<< <i>Even if they sell singles it does not change the mintage limit that was set. Not sure what the issue is. >>
The limit is on the Sets. The single coin option "will be minted to demand".
Now this could still be a small mintage, who knows how many will be sold. What if they sell 10,000 2-coin sets and 10,000 singles, you end up with the same mintage.
<< <i>So I need to ask, is the reverse proof going to be available anywhere other than the anniversary sets? And....what will be the mint mark if any for the regular bullion uncirculated SAE? >>
Mint said reverse proofs "ONLY" available in anniversary sets. (Aug 21 announcement).
Regular unc. bullion, without the burnished planchet, I understand will be as before -- no mint mark, right?

If this is the case I may just have to cancel my two coin sets.
Edited to add: I have been cancelling my various orders for the gold/silver sets the past few days and cancalled the last one an hour ago
I still have a 3 piece silver on order though.
If their not out to screw us they sure don't show it.
<< <i>That notice pertains to the silver BU coin specifically. What about the gold one? >>

I have to agree that this appears to be one big mess!

It's funny...but I was just going to post a question asking if anyone thought that the Mint might actually adjust the price for the gold sets downward since the value of bullion has dropped significantly since the orders were originally received last month...
But now I see that the Mint is up to its old tricks, playing games with the words total "units" and total "minted"
So, Question 1: With an unlimited mintage, does it make any sense to buy even a single 2-coin gold set at this point? I'm thinking "no".
Question 2: Is there any point in buying more than one 3-coin silver set (just for kicks)? I'm also thinking of cancelling most of my orders for this set.
Question 3: As of now, I'm thinking that the 3-coin gold set should still be a winner...unless we suddenly lift the mintage limts on the reverse-proof gold coin in that set as well.
Thoughts...rants?
The silver set still has the reverse proof with 250K mintage. This is below the currently priced 1996 ($180) proof in mintage.
It's still a winner.

Thank, Mike...I just needed to hear that...before I hit the cancel button prematurely!

me too
I already canceled the 2pc set since it's no longer worth it. I may still buy the singles but, I just don't see the point in spending $100 on a box. Now, if I were a box collector........
BTW...for all you set breaker-uppers out there:
Mint boxes on eBay have excellent re-sale value! Don't want to know why...
