What's the best way to measure centering??

I am fairly new to the "grading scene" and I wanted to send in some modern cards for grading but I only want to send them in if they have a decent shot at a 10. The main issue is the centering and how to measure it? What is the most accurate (and cost efficient) way to measure centering... and what is the requirement to receive a 10? Any help would be appreciated!

I usually scan the card, keep it huge, and measure pixels with a pixel ruler to come up with a percentage. You can download a ruler; I think it's called jruler. As far as centering tolerances for various grades, read PSA's standards. They're located right in this site.

look at the card , if you think it is off center, it is. if you are submittin cards that you need to blow up the centering to measure if it "qualifies" , you will probably be disappointed as the graders are not doing it and if you measur2 35-65 with 100X magnification , the grader is probably going to see 70-30 and it will get the lower grade.

I almost never get technical on centering , a centered card is a card i look at and say , "that looks damn nice"

Agree 100%. If YOU think its a "close call", you've already answered how the graders will look at it. I go strictly by eye appeal. When a card looks "perfectly" centered, it doesnt matter if its 50/50 or 53/47, they'll both garner the same grade.......

Fold the card down the center and give it a good crease. Now measure with a ruler that has milimeters from the crease, or the center point to the border of the photo.
