exit polls must have been wrong, half dime trails. How can exit polls be wrong!?
  • I believe the esteemed poster is correct. Although different in metal content, Half dime and nickel are in fact the same *denomination*, which is the question the poll asks, so only one should be on the poll.

    Just a thought.

I voted for Half Dollar because I collect type and love all the varieties.
  • There is no two cent option, or three for that matter. How can you leave those out? 2C That is my vote.

    PCGS Lingo says:

    denomination
The value assigned by a government to a specific coin

Who cares? Half Dime collectors want half dime listed and DThigpen was magnanimous enough to put it there.

Nope. The two denominations are called "Nickel" and "Half Dime" therefore they are different. If the poll would have listed the numerical indicator of the denomination it would still be different as the "Nickel" is "5¢" and the "Half Dime" is "H10¢"

I'm torn between the cent and the nickel. I collect both and both, but the nickel was the favorite denomination of the masses during the early 20th century so that's my choice.

Sounds like the pollster did not know about all the denominations.

I voted for the penney, but I do like the half dollar too.

Silver Dollars of all types are my first choice, closely followed by $20 Gold Double Eagles. If gold prices and silver prices were inverted, then I'd probably also reverse the order of my preferred coin choices based upon affordability.

I can afford to collect lots of pretty Silver Dollars with today's relatively modest ($10-$11) silver prices, as compared to collecting relatively fewer $20 Gold Double Eagles at today's $550-$600 gold prices.

Either way, I prefer larger denomination and larger sized precious metal coins. image
