Submission Question??

What the cheapest level to submit current autograph cards that came from packs?? I'm guessing their Sept/Oct. special at $13 per card??

Can't you submit them under the "modern" level for $8.00? I had planned on submitting an auto this week under that one. Please let me know.

  • Well that's why I'm asking. If you look on the submission form it says that it excludes autographed cards. I wasn't sure if that meant all autograph cards or just the pre-1998 cards which have to be sent to their autographed card grading and authentication service.
Any help people?? I emailed PSA but as we all know that is pretty much a black hole.

I would say that it is talking about unofficial autographs, because, not only the modern level, but every level says the same thing. All of them say "This excludes autographed cards". I would still like someone to chime in just to make sure, because I have a modern autograph to send in as well.

Under the "autographed card grading" section, it says, -

** Autographed cards dated pre-1998 and/or those not directly from manufacturer must be sent through the Autographed Card Grading and Authentication Service (fee may vary on card value, see listed restrictions and requirements).

I think that is implying that you can send in official autographs with regular cards.

  • You are most likely correct. Can anyone else verify this??
  • I can verify-

If the autographed card was issued from the manufacturer and the card year is 1998 to present, it can be submitted under any service level that it may qualify for based on the declared value and the turnaround time you are looking for.

Any autographed card issued by the manufacturer dated 1997 and prior or any card with an autograph obtained in person must go through the Autographed Card Grading & Authentication service level which starts at $20 depending on value. Please note that all cards sent in for this service are a 20 business day turnaround even at the higher service levels.

Here is the PSA gudielines with Auto cards.

"Any company certified autograph card 1998 and newer can be submitted to PSA for grading. Any card 1997 and older needs to go through their PSA/DNA service. "

What does this mean. 1998 and newer, company certified auto'd cards fall into any grading category based on the normal rules for any card, ie SMR determines the grading level. For instance you cant submitt a Vick/Brady auto rookie card under the $8 modern bulk. SMR is too high. However, you can submit a Robert Furgeson auto rookie under the $8 modern bulk, or any level you see fit. Pre-1998 autos must go through PSA/DNA service.

    Hope this helps.

  • Just got this in from PSA:

<< <i>Thank you for contacting PSA Customer Service. If you have a manufacturer signed autograph dated 1998 to present than you can submit these cards under any service level as long as it meets the value limit. If you have cards older or you actually walked up and received this signature in person than you must submit these cards under $20 Autographed Card Grading and Authentication Service. >>

Just like everyone else had said. Thanks for the info.
