This coin has acutally moved up from $3. I can find these in circulation for $.25 without having been cleaned.

There are 4 of these on teletrade tonight all cleaned or damaged.

Go Figure!

That's a tough coin. It's not nearly as tough as the '69 or a few other dates of the era
but it's one you'd look for for years before you found it. They aren't getting any more
common. You can get a nice choice example for a dollar or two though and they're much
easier to find if you know where to look.

I suspect this coin has a reserve that the seller is trying to sucker someone into. The displayed bid will slowly move up to the sellers reserve, making it look like someone is actually bidding on it.

Add the minimum juice, sales tax and shipping and an unsuspecting bidder can really get hosed!image

Why are these tougher than others in the series? Mintages for most of these I spot checked are in the 100M plus range...what gives??

1969 Mint sets aren't expensive at all. I have to agree that that coin is just pocket change. It is damaged and only XF. $6 for an XF?? No way...a whole BU mint set sells for $5-$10...Are you saying that i should start stockpiling 1969 Mint sets? I have one Already !image

It's getting decidely tough to find any pre-'74 quarters in true XF or better except for the '72-D.

I've been searching rolls since 1997 and don't have solid XF '68-D, '69, '70, and '73-D's. All except
the '69 have little enough wear to grade XF but have problems like weak strikes or are dark. The
'69 is a high grade VF but very nice. The '69-D isn't that tough and mine is an attractive AU+ but
    these are not common.

Even though mintages are in the millions there is a very high attrition on these coins. Around half
have been lost and destroyed over the years and the survivors tend to be very much worse for wear.
20% are damaged or corroded and most are in extremely low grade. The '66 is the lowest grade and
has the narrowest spread. Most of these are VG and virtually all are G to F.

These aren't the only ones that are tough nice. Coins like the '77 aren't too tough in XF but most of
these are extremely poorly struck so finding a nice example is tough.

There are numerous varieties which don't appear at all in mint sets and since there are almost no
rolls of these coins that leaves only the circulating coins. Some of the coins in mint sets are extremely
tough to find in attractive condition. Coins like the '76 tI dollar or '69 quarter usually are awful in the
    sets.
