New Purchase: 1923 NGC MS-65 Toned Peace Dollar w/ Die Cracks -- How Do You Like Her ??

StuartStuart Posts: 9,762 ✭✭✭✭✭
Here's a recent 1923 NGC MS-65 Toned Peace Dollar auction purchase that seemed interesting to me both because of the toning and also for the prominent die cracks.

I'd be interested to see what my fellow forum members have to say about it, based upon the following original auction photos. Thanks in advance for your comments and observations... image

    Peaceman: Nice die crack!!

Steve: I agree that it's solely a matter of personal taste. I like the overall appearance of the coin, and to me the die cracks make it a bit more interesting.

I like the look of that coin Stuart. I actually had it on my watch list for the last week and decided last minute that I wasn't going to bid on it. I think you'll be happy with it when it arrives.
  • The die cracks like that are fairly common, as I`m sure you already know, on 22`s and 23`s. I agree, I like them too! I think you`re really going to like it. It looks pretty nice.

Just made the label up for it tonight. It goes out Priority Insured tomorrow morning, you should see it by the end of the week image

btw... I usually remove the images from the web site once I see the coin has been delivered. If you need me to leave them there for a while (for this post) just let me know image

Yes--VERY common. I have rolls of Peace dollars that have the exact same cracks.

Now peaceman has a NICE example of a rare die crack!

I am a fan of this coin...in fact I wish I would have seen it. You might have spent more for it image

  • junk box material
  • Beautiful
  • Stuart, I like the looks of that coin and I like die cracks.

Here is your coin's older sister - though graded a point lower and no cracks in the crown, the toning and crack through the neck is quite similar. image
