Any info on this?

So I was looking through my garage at all my stuff, and came across this old thing that my gramps gave me a while back. I was just wondering what exactly it was from and if it had any value. The case was made in Canada and I've no idea what monument it is.

It's definately possible, but just so you know, there is a plastic cover on the coin with some scratches, and the photography sucks. But it does look like it could have been cleaned or something possibly.

Somehow the scratches don't look like whizzing to me; they're absolutely parallel, and I don't see the shiny effect from buffing. At first, it appears to be whizzing, but I don't believe it is.

Sorry, I have no idea what the coin commemorates; it looks like a normal issue.
