Anyone pick up so-called dollars from Long Beach/Heritage?

I bid (what I considered strong bids) on 47 of the so-called dollar lots, offered in the Heritage Signature Auction #416, through the internet. Fifteen of my bids were good enough to go to the floor. There, I won only three items, totaling $147.00 (including the buyer’s premium).image

Anyone here pick up any so-called dollars?

I was out of the running a week or two before the close. The common pieces sold for very strong prices, and the rare ones sold for very very strong prices. Even the ones where Heritage messed up the cataloging still sold for strong prices (I was holding out hope that I could sneak a few out of there).

    Oh, well.

I'll continue to buy SCDs, but I like my chances better when I have a little less competition... image

  • Well, I guess it is going to take a lot longer to get a decent collection of SCDs going!

I'll have to keep my eyes out for the ones stuck in a corner somewhere. Hopefully, I can find something as great as the California State Centennial uniface dollar that you found!image

Interest in medals may be picking up. By comparison to coins they are still bargains.

I was the underbidder for many lots, but only came away with one win on a group of medals. Not a SCD win in the bunch. I was way outbid on many of the SCD lots early on.
