How much should this raw card sell for?

1957 Bill Russell (R) on ebay. Looks super nice. I need this card for my set..... looks like it could be an 8. What do you think is a reasonable amount to try to pick this card up for? The reverse centering could be a problem you think? The front is centered pretty good for this year....Give me your thoughts.....

looks like it may have visited the chop shop.

Take a close look at the reverse scan, lower left, it appears like it is was trimmed unevenly...even the reverse right looks off, but not nearly as much as the left.

If a card that nice looking wasnt altered it would most likely be in a PSA holder already.

I of course am not positive, but I have some concerns on that card. I compared it to my Lakers cards from the set, and the side borders on the Russell look trimmed to me. If you look at the bottom left corner on the back scan, it appears to have an uneven cut, and the top right corner on the back scan looks curved. The entire right edge on the front scan looks too narrow compared to the left edge.

I would be extremely cautious on this one, and probably would pass on it.

  • The bottom line is that it's not graded for a reason. Run far away and be thankful you did.
  • Trim job for sure. You can see bat-ears in all four corners, and the bottom edge is not square. Avoid like plague.
  • Sorry, but what are bat-ears?

Dave care to elaborate? was this set reprinted in quanities, I do not collect it but am curious.

as far as the trimming , the guys scanner is awful which is making most of his cards look wavy. I am not implying that they are not trimmed , jsut that the scans are awful.

I have seen many of these over the last several years and seen many reprints as well. The biggest problem is the yellow tint to the card. Authentic cards do not have this tint. Not to mention the corners are just too sharp and it's centered too good. This is what a authentic one looks like. A big diffence IMO.
