    I am virtually certain (as in 99+%) that it is a counterfeit - sorry.

    Edited to add: It is too mushy, strike-wise and the surfaces are too uniform in appearance -there should be more transition in texture/finish from the devices to the fields.

    I always lean towards bogus when i see one of these (or a Trade dollar)

    Strange rim ding/other around 11:00 on obv besides everything else that's been noted.

    Seems like everyone selling these seated/trade dollars on Craigslist are all bogus...

    I havent seen a legitimate one for sale on their yet....that's pretty sad image

    Well, Ebay is no better, as we know...

    I have a similar fake 1846 that was given to me a few years ago from a friend. It came out of a coin dealer's estate who liked to collect counterfeits. The date looks odd to me on this one as well.

    If you want to pay the price of a real one, I'll sell you my counterfeit as well.

    "Derek", if you think that coin is genuine, you'd best study up so that you can continue to pretend to be a coin dealer. Many such counterfeits of various dates can be found on Ebay from time to time.
