I found and 1864 Indian Cent with L in the wall

Here is a true story that happened to me.
My wife and I bought an old house, according to the deed it was built in 1910.
We were tearing out the horse hair plaster (very messy job) and installing new drywall. While removing the old baseboard my wife (who knows nothing about coins but knows I like coins) asks me, what is an 1864 penny worth? My coin dealing standard answer was it depends on the condition. I told her to get my red book and look it up, trying to spark some coin interest in her. She returned and I asked her well what's it worth? She replied I can't tell. Then it hit me in 1864 there are Variety 2 and Variety 3 and also variety 3 with "L"
She handed me the coin and wanted to know which kind it was. As it turned out it was an 1864 varitey 3 with "L" and happened to be in Fine to Very Fine condition.
Her next question was "Is it worth enought to pay for the material to finish this room?" Yup it was.
If the house was built in 1910 as the deed states then someone must have place or misplaced the coin in the baseboard long after the coin would have been in circulation.

I've read stories about people finding treasures in the walls of old homes. Kind of makes you want to remodel
