Yeah, I'm shocked. Any idea how much it's worth? Just happened to be looking at the pcgs articles and thought I'd better look and see if it was a close am, and it was !! All of the coins in the set are toned and the cent is the worst looking especially on the front.

I don't know the "real" worth but it is listed in the price guide.

Fewer than 10 known according to that article. Guess I'll be sending Ken Potter another email. A month ago I discovered a DDR #4 Minnesota quarter in my uncirc mint set that I sent to him, and now this. I have been lucky lately LOL

which proof set?.............I know the cent doesn't matter but was it in the silver proof set or the clad proof set?

Given that the cardboard in the picture is blue, I would say clad set.

Thanks Russ. BTW, the kennedy half looks real good, nice ring of golden toning around the outside edge. The July 2006 pcgs article says, "Current values for the 1999-S "Close AM" variety range anywhere from $250 to $3,500, depending on condition. " I have no clue what this would grade at. The obverse has toning across part of the coin and around the outer edge. These are scans so they look a bit dull.

Yes it definitely needs a little help. I'm a new collector and have never submitted anything. In fact I don't have any slabbed coins. Can you tell from the scans what it might grade? It has haze on the back, but doesn't the haze eventually turn colors?

Now that PCGS put out the article about these 'close' cents, it will be interesting to see if the population starts to rise. I am sure many here are going to look at their 98-99 proof sets a little closer.
