Anyone been detecting in SC?

I havent been able to find anyone around here. Just wondering if any of you have been detecting in the Southern part (From Charleston south to Savannah, GA) and wouldnt mind giving me some pointers or some inside advise from experience. I have spent a few hours trying to use the internet to find others... but the only guy I could find has an invalid email address.

I just got back down here from Ohio, and would like to hit up some nice places.

  • I think Lordmarcovan hunted around that area. Maybe he can help.

I hunted in Savannah a few years back, before I found out it wasn't legal to hunt in their squares like it is in ours. (Whoops).

I have also hunted in central SC, at a B&B my wife and I stayed in (and might be returning to on Halloween).

I'm further south, about an hour south of Savannah. I have hunted between here and Savannah several times. There's a lot of history. When you say "back down here", where do you mean, specifically? I am in Brunswick, GA, on the coast.

  • I live on Hilton Head... and we all know how rich people act... so I would like to find some decent places to hunt without being scorned at. Im in Savannah as we speak... and I come here often. Just looking for some places to hunt. Would even be willing to make a day out of it and make a nice drive down your way sometime.

Will PM you my contact info. Look me up when you're near the Golden Isles.

Come to think of it, I could come north to the SC Lowcountry, too. I would love to get a crack at some of the sites around Beaufort.

Oh, I forgot about the site I hunted in Mount Pleasant. In fact, IndianHeadMan was also visiting the area when I was on my second visit. We went out there.

I struck out that day, but prior to that, on my first visit, I got an early one-piece Eagle "A" (Artillery) button from the 1820s, a lead bale seal from a shipment of wool from the Netherlands (labeled with the city name, circa Rev War era), and a 1770s-era Mexico City Spanish 1-real coin that was worn nearly slick, holed, and made into a crude love token with the initials "SD" carved into it.
