Hockey Card Help - 1996-97 UD Black Diamond Triple Diamond

Hi there,

Just wondered if anyone out there knows anything about this hockey set - 1996-97 Upper Deck Black Diamond Triple Diamond? I'm looking for a description of this set and I've looked seemingly everywhere and even called Upper Deck. They didn't help.

Specifically, I would like to know at what ratio these cards were included in boxes? I have heard one in every 30 packs. I have heard one in every box?

This is the set with the Joe Thornton rookie in it.

Can anyone help? Or direct me to a hockey card board?

Thanks.

writer11 - The set has 180 cards and was issued in one series. Single Black Diamonds were cards numbered 1 to 90 and inserted in every pack. Double Black Diamonds were cards numbered 91 to 150 and were inserted one card for every 4 packs. The triple black diamonds were cards numbered 151 to 180. There was one triple black diamond card for every 30 packs. There were 6 cards total in a pack. I do not remember these cards at their inception, but the Thornton card was valued less than the Lemieux card in 2000. Times have changed.
